Another Middle East Crisis, Syrian Special "WMD"

Stop being so afraid of the pussy that you let a not so friendly country use WMDs with impunity who is also not aligned with our international interests. Stop hand waving weapons of mass destruction because they're being used half a world away. This pussy is not out of our league, and we have every interest in making sure WMDs are never used in war again.

The evidence that it was a gas attack is overly compelling at this point. If reports that it was a barrel bomb dropped out of a helicopter are true, that has been the government's M.O. for attacking population centers for years.

I dont know who to believe anymore about Syria because Russia tells what they want and USA do the same, i read Russia asked OPCW to go check on Guta about use of chemical weapons.

If is true Syria government troops are winning the civil war why would they do an attack with WMD and after Trump said days before he wanted to move out all his troops.

Someone would say is because Al Assad is a crazy ass leader, but i was checking Al Assad and his wife biography and all i see is a non religious leader that was raised in the west. (Maybe he became crazy after being a dictator? ).

I am just starting to read about Syria crisis so i am kinda ignorant about all this, then again i am not taking sides just trying to understand a bit this mess.

they are winning the civil war, but the common thought is Assad is not entirely in control of his own military. for simplification's sake we like to pretend the leader of a country makes all their consequential decisions, and while still untrue that is closer to the mark in stable centralized states. Assad's Syria is neither, and his military has been hollowed out by years of grinding attrition warfare, infiltrated at every level by foreign nationals in Iranian/Russian/Hezbollan soldiers, and is increasingly composed of local non-government trained militias, owing only marginal allegiance to the leader of Syria. even the conventional units have been allowed a degree of autonomy that would be unheard of in a western military as they have fought on isolated battlegrounds for years while Assad remained in his bunker. given Assad did make the decision to disperse gas to forward operating bases it seems more probable than not some general or colonel or Iranian Revolutionary Guard officer decided to drop the chemical weapons without necessarily receiving the greenlight from the regime.
