To be honest, I didn't really care about Dark Souls when I looked at the trailers. The only reason I liked Dark Souls was because I played it and that was that, I certainly wouldn't get what was so fantastic just from looking at someone else play. I mean, now when I look at people play it's awesome but I didn't get it until I played.
I think Dark Souls 2 is gonna be like that. I won't know if I'll like the game until I play it, but I know for certain I'm gonna play it.
I liken it to how skeptical I was of Dark Souls after the absolute joy that was Demon's Souls. I was pretty sure they were just going to ruin it. Beyond recognition? A more "open world style" in Dark Souls?! Great, shit is ruined.
Look what happened there for the most part. I know this is handed off, but I have faith in Miyazaki's supervision. I just don't think he would let the series be ruined, new user base growth or not. Don't let me down Miyazaki.
Miyazaki has already said his supervisory role is pretty much nonexistent
I personally think it looks epic as fuuuuuuuck.
does anyone know the song name of the new dark souls 2 e3 trailer? (cant find anything on youtube/google)
Music felt like a bad choice, rest of the trailer looked ok. Liked some of the gameplay nods, like the new weapons (looked like a 2h sword with a shield?).
I don't know what you guys are talking about with regards to previous stuff, though, they've definitely done way better trailers before. I remember being hyped as fuck over some of the original Dark Souls trailers.
The Dark Souls Bartholomew has got to be my absolute favorite, but these are really more like game is done check this shit out trailer than a preview while in development
I still find myself youtubing the Bart, All Saint's Day, and Hardcore trailers every few months to rewatch them.
also, apparently all those sketches that were supposedly DS2 concept art might not all be ds2 concept art. I guess it was just a bunch of pages from the dude's art book and some of the sketches could be completely unrelated.
I am just not seeing much to worry about here. Am I crazy? It still looks like Dark Souls to me, so much Dark Souls. Some animations are a bit different, almost too fluid... but is that bad? I am still so very hyped.
At least it wasn't a goddamn live action trailer. I don't know what happened to restart that trend when it died off in the '90s but it has more than worn out it's welcome here in the 21st century as well.
noticed a couple differences in ds2
sorcerer pulled a magic weapon attack seemingly out of nowhere, as if magic weapon isn't a buff anymore but a single attack that uses your non-catalyst weapon to perform an extra strong attack because it's powered up with sorcery
backstabs now seem to be multi hit and automatically switch to 2h
hmm.. starting to see what they might have meant by streamlining ds1's mechanics to be easier to understand for new players
