@Souj/Krandor; I feel the same, but I feel that way about DkS1 too. Outside of Ornstein/Smough I think DS was the only game I felt "holy fuck, this is hard" and even that was because it was a new game. Go back to it now and it's simple.
It reminds me of the Zelda series after OoT. Once you got good at OoT(DS in this case), you're good at all of the future titles.
Edit: one thing I'm actually pretty excited for, though, is a SL1 run on this game. On DS and DkS1, rolling pretty much won the game making SL1 runs not that bad. With the way rolling and iframes are tied to stats this time around, it makes it pretty interesting.
Black witch's staff is super awesome for a hex (or any sort of hybrid caster) build. You can cast any non-pyromancy spell with it, including miracles and hexes that say they require chimes. It's also doing significantly more damage than any other staff/chime I have for every spell I've tried.
EDIT: For whatever it's worth, you can power-stance crossbows. The reload time is pretty bad lol.
And for the people having a really easy time with the game, there's a covenant you can join in marjula right at the beginning that is essentially the games hard mode. It makes the enemies harder, disables summons, etc. I had it on for the first few bosses before I realized what it was.
Obviously this isn't going to be as hard as your first time playing whatever (demons or dark 1) but I still feel like there's a lot to discover. I'm going through with pretty much the same build I used on the previous games and I'm not doing badly at all.
I don't think that makes this inferior, it just makes us familiar. As for an actual question, someone told me they did something to dodge but I can't figure out what it is. As far as I can see as long as you can fast roll it doesn't matter what you wear (heavy or light) as long as you don't go over 60% total weight, and less weight doesn't mean further/easier rolls does it? How does AGL affect rolling?
here's some testing on adp and agility. pretty underwhelming honestly.
That's lame. I suppose I'll respec sooner or later, but even with 20 ADP I'm not doing badly. Hopefully more tests will be done and we can see if ADP/AGL is worth it.
When you refight the Purser in the Iron Keep (where the Smelter Demon originally was) he has a new move where his sword turns blue and he impales you and immediately curses you; no bar build up, just "Cursed!" in red letters on the screen. Except, nothing happened; my max HP certainly didn't decrease, so I dunno...
Also, it's been confirmed that the Soul Vessels are bugged and swaps your gender? or no?
He had that move the first time I fought him, although it might have been because of the champions covenant? idk
He does that the first time you fight him as well.
Just fought the last boss in the Darkdiver covenant. Probably most fun I've had in a boss fight since first time I beat S&O. Still impressed by the amount of stuff they crammed in to this game.
It hollows you without killing you, you might have missed it if you're wearing a lot of armor covering up your bodyWhen you refight the Purser in the Iron Keep (where the Smelter Demon originally was) he has a new move where his sword turns blue and he impales you and immediately curses you; no bar build up, just "Cursed!" in red letters on the screen. Very shitty quality cause I just took it on my phone lol
So, what weapons are people using? 20 hours in i'm still using the Heide sword (which is +10 at this point) since it scales so well off of stats along with the Dragonrider Bow and Pursuer Greatshield.
Currently struggling with the Shrine of Amana, but SL159 and using the full Havel's Armor Set (including shield), all at +2. My weapons switch around a lot depending on what I'm fighting; usually it's Heide's Straight Sword (currently +6), but sometimes I'll use the Pursure's Ultra Greatsword (currently +2) as well.

Twin Dragon Shield with Halberd for single targets/physical damage and Magic Moonlight Greatsword for lots of weak targets/magic damage. Magic Staff of Wisdom & Binoculars for casting stuff. For armor, the full Lion Mage set except for the helm and a Black Hood.
Oh snap, didn't realize Havel gear was in the game. Combination of dog mask and Alva chest is such a great looking combo dunno if I can give it up
Also Engraved Bracers are pretty pimp if you're good at not getting hit, though I have absolutely no idea what the proc chance is, but getting random one shot crits when doing a bow pull are nice.
Spoiler: show
Shit's mad heavy (as expected), and you need 45 Strength to be able to handle the Greatshield (around ~20 STR for the rest of the armor), but the defense is amazing.
I just had a spider drop a Zweihander... weird.
