Yeah i got that one as well. Using fire sword+10 from cave with drangleic shield and full alva armor +4 i think. Only have the spider left of the original 4. Might up my stats and throw on the gear you can buy after killing smelter. Sitting at 49.1% with 17 vit i think. 40 int mage built character though.

Shit's mad heavy (as expected), and you need 45 Strength to be able to handle the Greatshield (around ~20 STR for the rest of the armor), but the defense is amazing.
My wireless had been acting up so was playing offline most of today, would have never spotted this since no messages, thanks.

Soul Memory limitations on co-op kinda suck. Well they suck more for my friend would could use a bit of help. I don't mind so much myself. Looking at some testing and it seems even with Name Engraved ring you still need to be within a 30% margin with your Soul Memory (top right of your stats screen). I was waiting for my friend to get the game so just shitting around on my level 18 Cleric, not leveling but helping people a bunch with Dragonrider. I hit about 118k SM, and he could not see my summon no matter what.

That was what prompted me to look into it, as I thought it was only in place to protect from ganking.

Site doing some number crunching and a summon calculator (and a petition lol).

I don't understand what they were thinking with soul memory at all. All they had to do to keep the low level twink ganking at bay was make everything scale properly and have appropriate stat requirements, but they did away with a lot of that between the beta build and now; pyro spell requirements were removed, crossbows went back to not-scaling like DkS1, raw weapon path was brought back for some god forsaken reason, etc.

All the soul memory system really does is punish people for playing the game.

Doesn't soul memory only have any effect on invasions?

JFC, constant double-team invasions when trying to get to the Luna boss, glad I was finally able to make it through to the boss with enough supplies/durability to pull out the win.

I feel sorry for anyone going for that boss right now.

It effects co-op as well, at least according to From, and all the people on the internet whining they can't connect to their friends anymore. Only thing I'm not sure it effects are dueling signs and the self-invade covenents (bell, rat), but if even co-op is filtered by soul memory, I would assume those are as well.

I'm at a loss as to what I should put points into now. The rest just seems a bit useless more or less.
I'm level 100, just beat the Mirror Knight.
    vgr13/end25/vit30/atn4/str40/dex12/adp20/int3/fth6
I was thinking either DEX so I can use a few more weapons (that I might not actually use) or VIT just so I can equip more stuff.
btw if you use the respec item does it put all your stats to the very minimum or does it just reset you to your classes original stats?

It resets you to Class minimum then you spend your points how you see fit.

I want to kill Straid every time I talk to him.
"Fool, do you think you can handle how awesome my spells are?"
Bitch, I learned my shit from the mother of all pyromancy and killed the douchebag responsible for Hexes.

granted I'm not the same character, but I don't care!

So what's up with imbuing? I want to add something to my main wep but I'm afraid it's going to suck afterwards looking at the physical decrease and scaling changes.

Unless the weapon has shit scaling to begin with its not worth it seems like. You can revert the change though if it ends up worse.

Why is it so fucking hard to help people? If I'm even lucky enough to get summoned shit just disconnects on me.

It depends what path you're imbuing, and what your build is. Imbuing can potentially could give you better scaling.

raw: scaling removed, base damage up
magic/enchanted: damage split between physical and magic, magic bonus scaling added or increased (int scaling), other scaling reduced
lightning: same as above except lightning bonus scales with faith
fire: same as above except fire scales with int and/or faith equally
dark: similar to fire but it requires BOTH int and faith to work, not either or.
poison/bleed: base damage and scaling reduced, poison/bleed added (or increased if they already had it). Both bleed and poison primarily scale with dex. Faith also slightly increases bleed, same with adaptabiliy for poison.

I have no idea what mundane does.

Also of note that unlike DkS1, you can use weapon enchants on split damage weapons. So dark weapon on... a dark weapon for example is pretty effective for an int/faith build. You can also imbue unique weapons this time around, so you could take say a boss weapon that's already split lightning damage, and put it on the lightning path for more faith scaling/damage.

Oh man, Avelyn is upgraded with titanite shards this time. Woo!

Also, the spider boss; anyone else notice the first sound it makes is the same noise from the demons souls spider?

For anyone who cares about the trophies, here's how to obtain all the "Inherit Equipment" ones. From my post on GFAQs. (Boss/area name spoilers)

    Spoiler: show
First of all, I'd like to clarify that none of these are missable, as I've done them all in postgame after beating the final boss.
You can use a Bonfire Ascetic to respawn any bosses you missed and it'll still work with no problems.
Second, these are from my experience, there could slightly different/lesser requirements, but these are the things I myself had to to unlock these trophies.

Moonlight Greatsword (Inherit Benhart of Jugo's equipment)

You need to summon Benhart for 3 bosses and have him survive all 3 fights. You first find Benhart waiting by the entrance to Shaded Woods, after unpetrifying Rosabeth, talking to him will cause him to leave for the Bonfire after the dual Dragon Rider fight at Castle Drangleic. After that he'll be at the spot right after the main fight with the Pursuer, near the crow's nest, afterwards he'll be inside the Memory of Orro, where he will stay until you're done with his questline.

Here are the spots you can summon him at. (You only need to do 3 of these, I'm not sure if repeats count)

-The camp bonfire at Brightstone Cove. (Before the Prowling Magus fight.) (You have to have talked to him after unpetrifying Rosabeth for him to be available here.)
-Right outside the Looking Glass Knight battle. (Have to talk to him at Drangleic for him to be available here.)
-Memory of Jeigh down the stairs from where you start. (Have to talk to him at Crow's nest for this one.)
-Right outside the Throne of Want for Throne Defender/Watcher/Final Boss. (I've heard the final boss doesn't count, I can't confirm this myself.)

After summoning him for three fights and having him survive, talking to him inside Memory of Orro will cause him to give you his equipment.

Holder of the Fort (Inherit Captain Drummond's equipment)

Captain Drummond can be found inside the Memory of Vammar, to cause him to give you his equipment you need to defeat the Giant Lord in Memory of Jeigh. You can kill the Giant before meeting Drummond and it will still cause him to give you his equipment.

Lucatiel (Inherit Lucatiel of Mirrah's equipment)

Same deal as Benhart, here are the locations you can find her:

-Lost Bastille straight ahead from the Towers apart bonfire.
-No man's Wharf right by the bonfire.
-Earthen Keep at the bonfire right after the Covetous Demon.
-Black Gulch, near the first bonfire, if you light a torch and hug the edge, you should see a ledge, drop down there and she'll be waiting.
-Aldia's Keep, right by the 1st bonfire.

Here are the bosses you can summon her against:

-Versatile Sentry at No Man's Wharf. You'll find her summon sign at the switch that opens the shortcut through the 2nd level of the Wharf. (Have to talk to her at Wharf for it to appear)
-Lost Sinner at Sinner's Rise. You'll find her sign right at the elevator that drops you to the Sinner fight. (Have to talk to her in Bastille for it to appear)
-Smelter Demon at Iron Keep. Sign is right outside the boss fight. (Have to talk to her at Earthen Keep)
-The Rotten, sign is right next to the hidden bonfire at Black Gulch. (Have to talk to her in Black Gulch)

After the 3 fights, talking to her at Aldia's Keep will cause her to give you her equipment.

Smith For Life (Inherit Steady Hand McDuff's equipment)

After giving McDuff the Dull Ember found in Iron Keep, light the torch in his room to have him move away from the chest he's sitting on, after that, spend a total of 50 thousand souls on his wares while also having 10 thousand of those souls go into weapon infusion.

Garrulous Miser (Inherit Laddersmith Gilligan's equipment)

After Gilligan moves to Majula, spend 12 thousand souls to build his biggest ladder and he'll reward you with his equipment.

Reflections on Disembodiment (Inherit Head of Vengarl's equipment)

After finding the Head of Vengarl in the Shaded Woods, keep talking to him until he mentions his body, after that, learn his gesture. Next, you'll find his headless body after defeating The Duke's Dear Freja, after defeating his body, return to him and exhaust his talk options and he'll reward you with his equipment.

It's in Dragon's Aerie, so pretty late game until you can find it. Still has 50 STR requirement.
