yeah xbox sucks, also I'm sick of dark souls, I wish I never bothered going after that fucking sword totally killed the game for me.

Well look at you Mr. Grumpy pants
evidently there's already a mega mule out. so beware if from lets it slide, could be rough in ng with twinks all over the place.
only thing that bothers me is that the upgrade process is a lot more gated in dks2 than it was in dks1. considering the limited purchasable titanites, finite farmable mobs, and only 1 ember its a whole lot different. sure eventually the vendors sell unlimited quantity, but not until the very end of the game.
gives me an idea though, may make a new run skipping the forest/wharf/bastille and heading straight for the ember asap. will be hard i think, but doable.
It's much less gated now then it was in ds1. You don't have to upgrade an item to bring it into any of the elemental paths, and changing your mind is much easier. You get enough stones to easily upgrade at least a few weapons through early game and midgame. In DS1 you couldn't even upgrade past +5 until you got the ember from The Depths and couldn't upgrade past +10 until New Londo Ruins/Tomb of the Giants/Painted World/etc. The points at which you get infinite shards, infinite large shards, and infinite chunks are all placed pretty well. By late game you can have a variety of fully upgraded weapons. And there are even enough places to farm upgrade mats before they become infinite if you've made a mistake or three.
Also I've capped out at 12 +5 flasks before going NG. At 12 it says you can't increase your flasks anymore.
Only thing that seems bad are the covenant rewards. WoG for example would require 150 invader kills as a blue (good luck with that...), or getting to the vendor in NG++.
For anyone who's hurting for some Effigies, the skeletons in the basement of the house in Majula have a 100% drop rate. The flipside to this is that they don't respawn, however, an additional one spawns down there for each NG+ iteration (i.e. Bonfire Ascetic) that the game is in. There's apparently no cap either, as some guy on reddit reported finding 15 skeletons down there at once, which means 15 effigies.
Be careful when doing this, as the skeletons down there are no fucking joke, and remember that if you kill one, but don't get to loot it before you die, that drop is lost.
When trying for Lucatiel and Benhart trophy, all that matters is whether or not they are alive when the boss dies, right? If they die in the fight, I can technically suicide and try the fight with them again?
Yeah, you can.
Also, I can't wait for a proper world map to be released for this game. I'm always so lost on where to find a lot of the optional bosses. Way too many hidden passages and shit. I've missed a lot of them at at the start because of that.
Anyone have any idea on invasion/duel level ranges?
I didn't mean where to stop, I mean how the ranges actually work in-game. If the people responding to me on PSN are to be believed, it seems like there is little to no restrictions in BoB duels. As sl 127 I'm apparently fighting people as low as 50 up to at least 280.
So I was wrecking things with my sorcerer before, but I just hit no man's warf and my character is in no way prepared for this zone atm lol
lv35 vgr5/end9/vit5/atn16/str7/dex12/adp8/int22/fth4
Sorcerer's staff+2 / dagger / short bow. 10iron arrows / 20 fire arrows. 62 Soul Arrow / 15 Great Soul Arrow.
Made it to the dock just before the boat but had ran out of magic and was forced to take down the dark stalker things with fire arrows. Ended up getting killed.
I need to find a good weapon. But the only ones i've found so far require a good deal of str.
Flame Longsword in Forest of the Giants, below where the memory behind the king's door is, you get there by going to the second bonfire and going back outside the doors and falling off the ledge.
10 STR/9 DEX
According to testing I've seen, DEX scales at almost half of what STR does, which is... disappointing.
Dmg scaling (besides mundane), is based on the base damage of the weapon afaik. Does a quality weapon with B/B or whatever scaling get a better increase from str in one hand?
Yes.
