Died to poison in the shaded woods because I was stupid. Didn't realize it was so potent, hp dropped faster than estus would heal. Oh well, expected this to take many attempts!

Burning an Ascetic in Majula doesn't affect anything negatively right? I'm on NG+ but want to buy that butterfly armor but don't want to risk resetting something...
just more skeletons in cale's house i think, though they all will drop effigies if you happen to need them.
typical rng gripe i suppose, but extincted all the mages on the cliffs in brightstone chasing a bat staff for dark fog. never did get one. some of the weapon and armors that are drop only really really suck to farm even with high item find (covetous gold, rusted coin, jester hat etc.)
edit: meant to leave this for anyone who might find it useful:

according to that, too, there are 8 lootable chunks if i counted right. so you could max 1 weapon at least without any farming if you were diligent enough to find them all.
So me and my friend are going to play ds2 tomorrow and see how far we each can get without dying, throwing in the restrictions of; not being able to use healing items, no summoning help, and no shields. Anyone know any good stipulations That could be thrown in? Also a good way to determine a winner?
Can't use weapons that deal Strike damage.
Killed everything in NG, but I think I'mma save NG+ for PC version and new char. I never played the original Dark Souls on PS3 so I had no idea how long the loading times were compared to PC but just the act of dying gives you like 30-60secs of pondering what happened.
remade a hex character, this thing is a beast. dark crypt blacksword, dark caitha's chime, resonant weapon, greater resonant soul, options for affinity or profound still spiced down to 30/30 int/faith.
having a blast with it!
Well that was unexpected...
One of the bell tower dwarf grey phantoms (that's way too many words to name something) in the fire bell tower just dropped Flame Swathe for me.
edit: Interesting. I just Flame Swathe again. From the same exact dwarf on the very last time it respawned just like the first time.
Also, the red phantom up here hasn't respawned in quite a while :/
And since I'm sort of on topic, just a little more lore; the mutated scorpion type dudes in Sinner's Rise also drop Bell Tower gear.
If I wanted to Ascetic the area with ghost NPC dude so I can buy those spells he only sells in NG++(+?) which bonfire would I need to burn it at? The first one inside the castle or the 3 paths shaded woods one?
doesn't work, you literally have to be in ng++ to buy them, as in third full playthrough.
oh and just FYI, using an Ascetic does not restore a shop's inventory, learned that today and was disappointed.
Omg. Posion Channeler's Trident + Dark Weapon + Hidden Weapon is so fucked up. LOL nobody knows when to block and it poisons so quick.
Gotta be honest..... Shrine of Amana on dual cestus run was a certain form of torture.
I cheesed 90% of shrine of amana with my sick bow skills.
Pilgrim Dungeon under drainglaic leading to dark lurker cost me about 20+ human effigies. Only made it to dark lurker twice lol. Fucking havel and ricard dark spirits kept whoring me
doing a boss only challenge now to see the lowest soul memory i can beat the game with. i think i'm at 129k now with last giant, dragonrider, flexile, ruin sentinels, lost sinner, skeleton lords, covetous demon, and mytha done.
started as a cleric to just mace things up and have some backup spears if i need them, been going pretty well so far.
this all stems from a twinked guy (non-megamule after I talked to him) invading my latest no death run in iron keep with avelyn, powerstanced katanas, moonlight butterfly armor, flame weapon, etc. at about 700k soul memory lol.
what is a megamule? i see the term a lot
downloadable save file for ps3 with 2 of every weapon, catalyst, armor at max upgrade level, 65k (yes 65,000) of every consumable including boss souls, etc. starts at tutorial with 0 soul memory so you can god mode as much as you like. it was used previously in dks1 to facilitate quickly making pvp centric builds without needing to replay and farm everything over and over if you just wanted to fight other people.
honestly it's very nice to test things with offline, to figure out builds you want, but online it can be abused fairly easily.
