Dark Souls 2 (PC/PS4/XB1/PS3/360)

Doing a no bonfire run because I feel it's a lot easier. Got two boss souls and on the third one, I could honestly probably skip the last and go straight to Drangleic Castle. Skipping shit like a boss. This feels really easy to me so far tbh. Putting down a Small Soapstone after every zone to repair/restore my spells making this shit way easier than people are saying. If I really wanted to, I can be done by tomorrow morning but I'm sure I'm gonna get tired soon.

I finally got to the Chancellor to get Great Chaos Fireball and I'm sitting there waiting for my trophy to pop up only to realize I forgot to get Fire Tempest in NG and in NG+.

People completely ignoring flaws in the game aren't helping the series.

That dumb fucking argument that "you'll never have that feeling you had when you first played a Souls game" is such utter bullshit and completely irrelevant to almost all the valid complaints people have had with the game. The game is good, but far from perfect and falls short of the first in more than a few ways.

As far as I'm aware of, no one says "you only get a first playthrough once" negatively. It's more a saying that you'll only be surprised by traps/mechanics/levels/enemies/ and other things the first time and after that you'll have already experienced them.

So most complaints about the game are level design and lore, which to me feels more like From trying something new rather than just being lazy (with exception to boss design, which is mostly justified). Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you get it wrong. It's not as good as DkS1 overall, but the only thing I really hate is the insane amount of tracking most enemy attacks have. If I could put DkS2 mechanics in 1 it would be awesome, but I'm happy enough with this that I'll put my faith in the next game.

They all feel like different games and they all give different experiences, so it doesn't really matter if you like one more than the other in a series of excellent games.

I want to blame DS2's downfalls on the lack of Miyazaki. But that's currently unfounded.

I have a feeling whatever game Miyazaki is working on for new gen consoles is what's going to end up getting me to buy one.
Deep Down was originally going to be that game, but since that's probably not coming to America...

Whenever I've complained about the game anywhere I've been met with that stupid fucking argument. It happened like 4 or 5 pages ago in this thread. They're essentially saying that because I know what to expect from a Souls game every Souls game except for the first one I played is going to be a letdown and that is completely asinine.

@Elcura: There's nothing that I would say I hate about 2, I love the game, it's just not as good as it could have been. Also I'd buy the "trying something new" argument if any part of the overall design of this game was new. They mashed together parts from DS and DkS and got a result that was less than the sum of it's parts. I'm not saying that there's no hope for the series, because I think they do deserve some leeway for the new director. If the first two games didn't exist, then most of these complaints wouldn't exist. Hopefully with the next game he takes the time to make the game his own without relying on the crutches of past entries.

I thought he was working on a demon souls PS4 exclusive? Dark souls is from softs IP, demon souls is sonys.
