It's not that hard you just gotta know the game well enough to map out a safe path to success, and a shit ton of co-op unless you know the bosses well enough to disregard it.. It only becomes hard if you don't utilize your checkpoints well or don't level yourself properly. I wanted to stream it but the only time I can is on the weekends and I'm sometimes too busy for it.
The No Death one is harder to get because so much can go wrong due to player error like how I died within the first 10 mins of my playthrough because I forgot about this ledge you have to jump over to get by. lol
It's just pretty crazy. I'm on my first play of DS2 and I can't see how you would do the bastille part without a fire... Like, you would have to do ALL of it within one go, unreal.

Doing a NG+ run now. A lot of stuff has changed. They love just putting random wrenches into places that were already hard as it is. Yeesh.
Also what the fuck @ iron passage and some of that dlc content. Just... Fucking impossibly hard. Not even possible. I had to literally run through most of that shit there's no way to fight it all...
Because it was built and designed (poorly) for multiplayer. Sadly, their idea for multiplayer combat as well as how to make the game harder was to just throw more enemies at you.
Finished up the NG+ run and started a NG++, not much changed.
The second time around I found the regular areas to be a lot easier due to having experienced them before and instead of running through places I actually stayed and fought a lot. Really abused the game through the use of the bow though, I still don't get how you could be 100% pure melee in this game in some areas.
I got the platinum trophy though, the cheap way. I bought all the covenant spells off of the chancellor in Drangleic castle. Now to help out in some Jolly Co-op!

DS3 next year maybe. More souls is never a bad thing.
YAAAAAASSSSSSSS
Should also post this in Bloodborne so we have it in 4 topics (5 if it's real).
Sorry about the bump. Has anyone tried this on ps4? If so is it a decent port? Never finished it on ps3. My ps3 was an absolute mess and gameplay felt terrible.
SotFS isn't any less of a mess, in fact... with the new monster placements I'd say its more of one. Its still the same game mostly so I'm not sure you'd like it any more but the port is okay.
Thanks, can't believe this thing is still 60 bucks.
You either love it or hate it I guess
Uggg. I've come to the conclusion that ds2 us just awful. Only going to play this one through once and wait for ds3.
Did you like the other Souls games?
I still don't really understand the hate for DS2, from people who had played the previous ones.
What's not to understand? There's a lot of thematic inconsistencies. The game feels floaty AS fuck and combat is far less satisfying due to it. The boss fights are lame as shit in comparison to the other games. The devs clearly didn't know how to make interesting encounters so several times they just throw a ton of enemies at you and its just boring. Oh, right... also MOTHERFUCKING SOUL MEMORY.
Oh, did I talk about the jarring transitions like from Earthen Peak to Iron Keep... really, I could keep going but I'm just going to stop here unless you want me to list more stuff.
Keep in mind, I actually kinda like Dark Souls 2... but is not at all hard (for me) to understand why people would like the other games and not this one.
The polish and depth of the game just isn't there.
Combat is just "more hp, more monsters", the lore and world didn't have the same attention to detail/depth to it.
The areas felt a lot more like a linear progression, etc. etc.
Just didn't transmit that clear vision that DeS/DS did.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I've probably put in more than 4x the time into DS2 alone than I have in both DeS and DaS. I really liked some of the new things DS2 had to offer, like power stances, and weapons/shields that allowed for magic casting in addition to normal use. The DLCs extended the life of the game significantly, as well. It's the only Souls game where I made multiple characters which I then took into multiple levels of NG+. /shrug
