Ok so my TV is 1080p 120hz, but watching TV normally through my cable box obviously it can only come in at 720p, so I'd only get the 1080p through my PS3 or PC or whatever. What about the 120hz though? I've noticed a lot of things that are coming in from the cable box are 60hz, will anything be able to come in at 120? One of the main reasons I spent the extra money (lol, 10-20 dollars maybe) on the 120hz was for football, but will I even get 120hz quality through a cable box? It's verizon fios through an HDMI but yeah.
As far as I know while content being 720 or 1080 is dependent on your provider and the source while 60 and 120hz are just the manner in which your TV displays the content. I have an Uncle that has a TV with the 240hz soap-opera stuff that he watches Old Westerns on all the time.
TV show source is usually from the provider too.
Theres also the HDMI VS component but i'm pretty sure you use HDMI so
But yeah like my Cable box here use 1080i i'm lik urgh really?
I know about the 1080p/720p stuff is all about the provider, but I was worried the 120hz might also be. But if your uncle is watching shit in 240 then I probably just gotta check network/settings.
I just can't help but think no one at TCM or whatever the fuck is updating movies that were heralded for now being in color when they were released.
I found the option for 120hz to be always on/off, just had to get out of game mode and do custom settings.
The GT/ST/VT Panasonic plasma series from 2012 is THE best TV and it won the award for it as well. Goto avsforum.com and do your research. I personally own the ST50 and it will take a huge dump over any shitty LED gimmick. Nothing matches the black levels on this tv other than old generation pioneer's.
Ok, still having the sound problem. Got some money for Christmas so I'm going to try to do a exchange/storecredit and toss in some extra cash and walk out with a better TV.
Looking at these two.

Only 2 HDMI's but thats ok as I can get a 10$ splitter if I ever play a console game again. Already got a wall mount ordered and a mount to attach my soundbar to the TV. Both have good reviews on amazon, the samsung has more though as I think it has been around longer.
Probably gonna walk out with the LG. A few dollars cheaper, 1 inch bigger, and it'll match my soundbars brand.... and my refrigerator.
For what it's worth, pretty certain that I have that exact Samsung TV (46" 6000 model)... and I don't have a single complaint. Owned it for close to a year now and haven't had any issues at all, and the picture quality is top notch for the price.
Doubt that there's ultimately too much of a difference between that and the LG one, but I tend to prefer Samsung anyway.
I didn't see the Samsung on display when I went earlier, and having already been there for an hour waiting in the customer service line, I walked out with the LG.
It's amazing.
I'd say that if you are looking, go shop Sam's club and Costco as well as best buy.
I don't know personally for Sam's club, but I know for Costco, our regional comp shoppers and buyers for electronics make sure that anything worth buying that Best Buy has, we carry it in the closest Costco as well.
Best buy and fry's try to say that they arent the same because the names don't match up, but they are the same tv.
Plus, as long as you are polite, Costco doesn't have a deadline on returning TVs. If it blows up 5 years down the line, walk in and be calm and polite and you will get your money back.
