From what I understand, both of those to guys are scientists. Very high intellect working on inter dimensional travel. Why do they act so differently then? Why did the movie people feel the need to make the white guy the nerdy one who doesn't get the brofist? I know plenty of black people who are just as nerdy. Just thought the obvious stereotyping was a bit silly. Maybe I'm in the wrong.
And why do you feel like blatantly ignoring the source material to go off on a race tirade? Reed has always been a bit of a dork. Johnny Storm has always been 'cool' in comparison.

It's like fussing that Spiderman is that geek who snarks when he puts a mask on. It's part of his core character.

Guess I didn't think about that. Know absolutely nothing about Fantastic 4. Apologies folks. I just saw stereotypes and it irked me. Should have thought before I spoke.

To be fair, all superheroes pull from a pool of stereotypes but yes, Johnny is a hothead, Reed is an awkward dork, Ben is your heart of gold bruiser and Sue is the heart of the team. Because this is a 60s origin comic updated.

    I'll just leave this here.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaxploitation

Instead of creating a new character of different "race" or ethnic group to tackle the issues of racism AND changing general attitudes of other "white" characters towards said characters, the general liberal approach of Hollywood is to revamp an already established character to appeal to masses and bring in specific demographic.

So in a sense, the stereotypes portrayed in this and movies like Avengers (Nick Fury case in point) perpetuate already existing race and ethnic stereotypes. And this goes further than just black stereotypes. In a scene where Captain America is told that Thor is a God, his typical white conservative response in light of blatant evidence "There's only one God, Ma'am"

What I'm getting at is this, stereotypes exist and will continue to exist regardless of attempts to curb them, because they stem from cultural norms of any given group, driven by material and spiritual perspectives of said culture. Closing your eyes to the fact or attempting to deny it exists just further perpetuates the very thing.

Tl;dr: Brofist is is totally a black-guy-cooler-than-white-nerd thing.

I always wondered how the cool brother to Sue found himself in the situation to begin with. What are his qualifications for coat tailing behind these great minds on the experiment that would give them their abilities?

I was never into comics, and the original two movies were so bad that I was never interested in wiking the F4 storyverse. The mystery I find more entertaining than the material, so maybe this movie will continue that and I'll just continue thinking he's there for token comedic relief and fireballs.

someone like krandor or delirium or kaslo or grantlogan can prob explain it better than me but the only great mind is Reed. Ben is reed's bff and a pilot. Sue was reed's boo and johnny her little brother. I believe the cannon follows that they were just fucking around on a plane Reed built and thats when the accident happened and they all got powers.

Johnny has always been a cool guy in marvel universe, but these movies are so insistent on making them all a team of brilliant scientests that johnny has to be cool guy/brilliant and then people get all confused and racist apparently

Like I said, I've never read a single comic before and I have never seen anything on Fantastic 4 before. All I know is what i saw from this trailer. And I saw a team of 4 hyper intelligent brilliant scientists and two of them were presented in a stereotypical way. Especially if you don't know the back story to the characters. I get it now that people have taken the time to explain it to me rather than just straight up call me a racist.

    Ugh.

MCU Nick Fury is based on Ultimate Nick Fury who's based on the coolest motherfucker in the 2000s, Samuel L Motherfuckin' Jackson.

Original-flavour Nick Fury (as seen in the utterly hilarious 1998 movie Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD and played by David Hasselhoff [no srsly]) was based on the coolest motherfuckers in the 1960s, who were, I guess, James Bond and I dunno, Frank Sinatra?

Not sure why blaxploitation is a thing here but okay.
