I'm curious as to what else Marvel got besides the FF for the Xmen TV rights. They may have not wanted to get into it, but those wide range rights would be a big deal to Fox.
If they pull in the ratings, any fantasy/sifi shows run right after should get a boost, and maybe not be cancelled...
Wow LOL
Well, IF all this is true, and Marvel continues on with a Phase 4, I think we can expect...
Fantastic Four movie
Hulk Planet movie (based on rumors he is in Thor Ragnarok)
Spiderman sequel
MAYBE another Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy movie
But is what I am curious/excited about is the potential story arc that will tie all the movies together. Based on The massive ensemble cast of characters, I can only think of one thing...
SECRET WARS.
Silver Surfer would be a definite connection to Guardians at some point
I'm just hoping he gets to appear in Infinity War. He's one of the most pivotal characters.
That's a lot of he said she said hearsay.
If the FF do get another shot at the big screen, ditch all the dimension-traveling stuff and bring the origin back to space travel. Seriously, Reed Richards would absolutely be the one trying to crack faster-than-light travel, and doing so while working for Tesla or Virgin under the guise of attempting to perfect commercial spaceflight.
And that would connect Guardians with Avengers.
Be blatant about it, even. Say Richard's interest in space travel came from his certainty of life on other worlds way prior to the Battle of New York, and show newspaper clippings in his office about the night Star Lord was abducted.
Are....are we writing this?
In all fairness, Avengers and Guardians are already connected via Infinity Gems. Specifically via Asgardian vault where they were previously stored. So the Thor connection is already there. And to tie in Richards, all they have to do is have SHIELD hire him to build the orbital SWORD stations, where the "accident" could happen. Which could be caused by Galactus' destruction of a planet in nearby system, sending cosmic rays towards Earth.
The most important thing is to not use Dr. Doom as the first villain. Gotta build up to Doom. Start with Mole Man. Maybe they've been the FF for awhile but never came out in public because Richards has been focusing on curing them, but then during Age of Ultron while all the Avengers are off in Europe, Mole Man attacks Manhattan with an army of monsters and they gotta step up.
Another idea - have the sequel introduce Doom and the Negative Zone, and then Guardians 3/FF3 starts an Annihlation crossover.
Tbh they don't have to redo the entire origin story. They could just throw the team in the middle of an event and explain how they got to be where they are via small flashbacks. I mean, there seems to be a lot of hang ups on how Superheroes became super and the science behind it. Personally I'd like to see a movie where they don't explain anything and you kind have to accept it. One movie comes to mind that did it very close two this formula is Hancock. They didn't get to his origin until end of 2nd act if I am not mistaken, but by then I could give to shits about his origin, I just wanted to see more of his antics.
I think an MCU FF movie should focus on alternate dimensions, dealing with Annihilus in their first movie would be great. And this can lead into MCU's next huge event, their version of Time Runs Out/Secret Wars.
Also, no origin story, have them come back to the current MCU after traveling to alternate dimensions.
