Storm Storm.

[Takiwaki]

in before jokes about him being black because he got burned by the flames. He is a good actor though. Funny to think he used to be on a soap opera as a teen.

At least Sue would have unlimited invisibility at night...

Bad joke?

Rumor is False

A couple weeks ago, a rumor started going around the Friday Night Lights and Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan would be playing the Human Torch in director Josh Trank's reboot of Fantastic Four. The two worked together on Chronicle, so it doesn't seem like it would be out of the question that something like this would happen.

When the rumor first hit, it seemed like a lot of people thought he would be a good choice for the role and that a lot of fans would embrace it. In a recent interview, Jordan was asked about the rumor, and this is what he had to say:

Nothing is real. Everyone knows we (he and Trank) are good friends. It's something that if it happened I would be ecstatic.

Jordan went on to address the racial difference of the character, which not many people seemed to have issues with in the first place.

Things change and time goes on, it's 2013 right now. I'm all about breaking barriers and changing stuff. We've got a black president. Times have changed. The characteristics of the Human Torch are his name is Johnny Storm, he's charismatic, and he's a playboy. That's it. You know what I'm saying? That's all there is.

Jordan then talks about the support he's been getting, and he's ready to embrace the possibility.

I get a lot of support and a lot of love from comic-book geeks. I love it. If you go looking for negative things you're going to find it. You never go through a girl's phone. If you're looking for trouble, you're going to find it. But we'll see where this all goes.

Man didn't realize changing the race of an imaginary comic book character was "breaking barriers".

It could be. If they made Johnny black, then they would make his sister black, who could then be dating a white guy. But then again, the first FF movie had a black girl dating an orange dude so whatever.

another F4 movie destined for failure? =(

[Odesseiron]

Hopefully it will just keep getting delayed like Daredevil and The Punisher and the rights will go back to Marvel. Though I've never found F4 to be a particularly interesting group of heroes.

The Punisher Dirty Laundry was so good. Gives me hope for more Punisher.

For the audience it probably doesn't mean shit. For black actors, it's a step forward.

Michael Chiklis as Thing was already the only saving grace for the first two Fantastic Four movies for me, so I'm set to "expecting garbage" mode by default.

Oh man, that shit was awesome.

The Fantastic Four are a guilty pleasure of mine. They're supposed to be a bit campy and awkward but that's what makes them likable. Hopefully the movie matches this reality, I'm tired of everything being set to maximum overangst.

I thought Evans as Johnny Storm stole the show; it's part of the reason I can't fully accept him as Captain America (the other part being his performance in Sunshine being essentially the same as Capt. America, yet a thousand times better).

[Krandor]

The movies (besides being just bad) were hurt by the casting for Reed, Sue, and Doom. Chiklis and Evans were both outstanding in their roles.

Heimdall done did that already in Thor. Idris Elba can break all the barriers he wants.
