    Question about plugging Home Theater

Hey everyone, this is not a thread about which home theater to buy, but mostly an information

In the near future I will buy myself a HT system, and I would like to plug my gameing stuff on it on HDMI

    1) Wii U
    2) PS3
    3) Apple TV
    4) Stereo Jack for Airport Express
and of course a HDMI out for my TV

    My question is simple

On a normal HT how would i have to plug my shit so that it won'T always be on the HT

Exemple I plug my PS3 to my HT HDMI IN then the HT HDMI out to my TV and that will work but, to get my sound I will have to open my HT which exemple at 8-9h in the morning wont be a good idea lol.

So for Todays HT how would a normal plugin setting be so that i can choose if I want the sound to come out the TV or the HT.

    Thanks

What you want is a receiver that's capable of HDMI standby pass-through. This is a feature that allows the receiver that pass through the audio/video signal straight to the connected TV while the receiver is in off/standby.

So exemple if receiver is off, sound goes threw TV and if it's on goes to the HT? or vice versa?

Yes, thought it's not a universal feature so you do want to make sure whatever model receiver you're looking at has it.

Alternatively, if it's just a concern about volume, many receivers have "dynamic volume" modes of some kind that will flatten out the dynamic range a bit to make the noise level more consistent, and in turn easier to keep at a lower volume.

    Anyone using Bose Systems?

I've been thinking about this, since it's less pricey then most stuff here

I know this is more of a speaker then a HT but still

Buy Other Sound Equipment. Bose has made some decent products, but they're 90% marketing and typically way, way more expensive for the performance level you actually get.

It's a soundbar, and very expensive for what it is. You could get something similar from another brand for well under $200, which in turn is probably on the level of a sub-$100 pair of computer speakers (I don't care much for sound bars >_>).

Buying a full receiver/etc costs more because you get more, and it's a lot more flexible. That thing has four (sub) 3" drivers in it. It'd make one hell of a clock radio, but for home theater? L-o-fricking-L.

I'm aware about the lolsoundbar for HT

Mostly cuz I don't have the money atm

Most HT with an amplifiers is like 500 just for the receiver + maybe 150-200+ for each sound colomns wich make it like 1-1.2k

I could also go for a blueray sound system for 500-600 (comes with the colomns)

    Decisions

While I'm not a huge fan of HTIB either, what about something like this? At least with that you could probably use the receiver with other speakers if/when you expand. At least better than the soundbar, and hundreds less than the Bose one you linked.

If you're on a budget, the other thing to consider is going in stages. Get a decent receiver and a solid pair of front mains. Going from TV speakers to even a moderate pair of bookshelf speakers can be a big improvement. A center, rears, sub, and so on can come later as you can afford them. Many people feel like center/mains should ideally be matched tonally, but usually you can do that if you stick to the same brand. Good equipment tends to last, outside of needing to add new inputs/formats to decode. On that note, look at used gear too. First pair of speakers I bought were some Polk Monitor Series IIs I got for $25 at a flea market. In 1995 or so. I've used them for mains, for computer speakers, and they're currently my rear speakers 'till I finish building a new set of speakers for my living room.

Well, I only gave that as a quick example. If you look around you might find a comparable product at a lower price.

    Yamaha Receiver - $349

It offers a lot of features for it's price range.

You can then either buy a 5.1 speaker package or buy individual speakers to complete your home theater system.
