So, we finally got an HD cable box set up for our HD tv. (Verizon FiOS) and was wondering if it matters which connection I use? I would think HDMI is the best but im not sure if there is any difference between the 3?

Coaxial now is mostly just for the Cable signal to your BOX
Anything from box to TV needs to be HDMI (if you don't have enough HDMI can use Component but it's alil weaker))
If you are trying to get HD quality the connection needs to be HD quality.
HDMI will give highest-quality picture and sound.
Component is good for most HDTV viewing but will not deliver a "true" 1080p picture (doesn't matter much for HDTV as most HD signals are 1080i or 720p due to bandwidth)
Coaxial cable will struggle with most HD signals and should only be used in HD setups as a last resort.
Thanks for the fast responses. I guess its about what I expected it to be.
TV has 3 HDMIs but I have 360, Wii U, PS3 hooked up to it. Cable is hooked up through component atm but was hoping to free that up to hook up a PS2 or Gamecube up to.
Is there like, an HDMI switch box or something to use? I gues I could just use one cable for 360 and ps3 and switch between the two.
EUUUUHHHHHHHHH
Component is not RCA!!!
I would go HDMI 360 PS3 WII U
Component : Cable Box (unless they do 1080p)
and lolRCA (yellow red white) Gamecube
and is it a typo or you have a 2nd PS3? (unless you menat PS2)
By RCA i mean composite

If not you can try a HDMI splitter like this one

I meant PS2.
And yeah, I know RCA, but I have component cables for PS2 and Gamecube. I could use RCA but component does make them look better.
I didnt know that you could HD gamecube and PS2 .... lol
Well, its not really HD I don't think. Just a clearer picture.
There are a handful of PS2 games that can do HD resolutions. For the most part it's just progressive output rather than interlaced that's supported, which can still look remarkably better. Just for 480i, component isn't much better than s-video.
Component out from a Gamecube requires a proprietary cable (it's got a chip in it) that tends to be fairly expensive. The better option there is a backwards compatible Wii, since component cables for that are cheap. Seriously, a used Wii would probably be cheaper than the damn Gamecube cable. So, unless you're dead set on using it with a Game Boy Player attached to the 'cube, go with the Wii >_>
Quite a few PS2 games support progressive scan, but usually it needs to be enabled by holding triangle + X while booting it. A few do let you enable it in the menu, or if you have a modded system with a bootloader you can force a lot more.
Yeah, I have a Wii so maybe ill do that. I do have an advance player. And yeah, those components cables are pricey.
Wrong section Jornna. Time to have Brill and/or Bregor lay down the hammer!

I suggest you buy your cables from monoprice too they're cheap as fuck and pretty good quality
Amazon is pretty much always cheaper.I suggest you buy your cables from monoprice too they're cheap as fuck and pretty good quality
anyways monoprice is about as cheap as it gets for hdmi cables and offers options in exactly what you need. if amazon is cheaper you're literally talking about pennies and the point of my statement was to deter the OP from getting some shit like Monster Cable your vague post isn't very helpful to OP.

Just don't pay above single digits for a cable. Simple.
