yeah because an AR-anything is really an assault rifle.

I wonder who in here knows what AR means...I believe pointing out the obvious is overrated.
Well that's just weird. I was born there. Not that I remember anything since I've not been there since I was 6 months old but it's still weird to see that.

no, but it was helpful. I thought it stood for "Automatic Rifle" or something like that. Makes sense, though. It's kind of misleading to use the abbreviation if not everyone knows what's being abbreviated. Usually when decent journalists do that, the first one is explained. "The gunman was using an AR (ArmaLite) 15. The AR-15 is a blah blah" but I don't think I've ever seen any do that.
The only advantage an AR-15 has over a handgun is the magazine size, in mid-cqb environments the bullets will not do an incredible amount of damage when compared to a handgun. That is to say explicitly, if someone spent 15m learning how to reload a handgun and practicing it, he would be orders of 10 more effective in this scenario. .223 has always seemed most effective when either very close or past what anyone would consider CQB. The bullet can do a lot of damage if it loses velocity but otherwise would be like a .22 round going straight through. Ideally, a .223 round doesn't have the force to penetrate through and through and bounces around inside your body, destroying your organs. It's also great for headshots because it will split your shit open like a canoe.
Hollowpoints in nearly any caliber for a handgun would be most ideal as a single shooter, shotgun as a backup.
As far as symptom vs disease, I can do more damage in 5-10 minutes with a knife because no one is going to know what the fuck is going on. There will be no panic because a guy is firing shots in the air. I think it's more important to address the problems that lead to situations like this than knee-jerk and say guns are the problem. /rehash old threads go
Dude brings great shame to Jake "The Snake" Roberts' name.
I love guns. douchebags, tards and crazies should get the axe though
Portlander being all hipster, killing himself before cops have a chance to.
If he were a true hipster he would have killed himself before everyone wanted him dead.
Would have saved everyone a lot of trouble really.
Oh yay! Another story for N. Korea to use as an example of America's inferiority. Our police couldn't even kill the suspect before he shot people and now they are not investigating his motives!
I love TheOnion. I frequently use it to troll religious nuts. Facebook is so much more fun with TheOnion links posted all over it by outraged idiots.
Whenever people post articles from The Onion, it's always funny, but I'm never sure how funny. It all depends on their interpretation...
Too many of these threads lately...
