These "shitty practices" are also far less shitty to someone they do not effect. If they're a dealbreaker to you that's cool, don't support them. I buy all my games new or digital and my internet works fine. If it ever goes down it's never for 24 hours. If by some miracle it does I tether to my phone and I'm good for another 24 hours, neither of these things will ever be a problem to me. The one thing I am concerned about is games. With 15/KH3 coming to the Xbone there is 0 announced exclusives that sell me on the PS4. People spouting off about stupid shit like Stockholme syndrome need to open their eyes and see these things just aren't a problem to everybody.
ordered some of PS4 games. I'm so happy Knack is a lunch title.
Spoiler: show
doesn't change the fact you're admitting you make poor choices. And your previous comment was ignorant based on the fact since YOU have had great internet and you don't care about overspending on games it shouldn't affect anyone else. I really shouldn't have to point this out....
Just reserved my ps4 w/ killzone
I'm pretty serious. I use my xbax for netflix more than games. idgaf about whatever M$ is trying to do. If you think some angry ffxi nerds are going to change the way our materialistic society works then right on dude, keep on keeping on. It's pretty clear xbone is gonna do just fine from reading posts in this thread, despite how upset you are over DRM and always connected. Seems exhausting to go on a some kind of crusade against those that will be buying something you disagree with.
Also, other than Metal Gear and Final Fantasy, I pretty much exclusively only play games with online multiplayer. All of my systems will always be connected to the internet or I won't be playing them to begin with.
My net rarely goes down and I haven't bought a used game in years but the things microsoft is putting into their system simply are not practices I want to support. PS4 is cheaper, potentially a slightly better system and in the unlikely case I'd ever be without net or the funds to buy games new PS4 can deal with that. A couple of shooters really aren't enough to sell me the xbone.
That's the biggest thing right there. We've already hashed this out before. Why is anyone ok with always online or DRM? What positive can come of it? Just like the last threads, no one will be able to identify anything positive about always online/DRM and they'll just keep saying they don't care because it doesn't effect them.
The first time m$ network goes down we'll see if you continue this same stance whilst trying to enjoy a brick, and not even a portable one at that.I have had stable internet for over 10 years. Either a whole lot of people are living in the backwoods or they just cannot afford internet I suppose.
until it inevitably effects them. then its rage time.Just like the last threads, no one will be able to identify anything positive about always online/DRM and they'll just keep saying they don't care because it doesn't effect them.
Personally, I much prefer to buy new games over used games. Typically the price difference is small (I think usually 4 dollars at Gamestop?) and I prefer to always have the manual, be the first person to use it, etc. That said, Microsoft's new practice bothers me for a couple reasons:
1) Loaning/borrowing is a huge hassle, as well as just bringing a game with me to a friend's house.
2) Sometimes lesser-known and/or older games are just really hard or impossible to find new. When was the last time you saw a Katamari game at Best Buy? That's right, never.
I also find the whole camera-always-on thing to be a little creepy, particularly if they ever use it to make sure only X number of people are watching Y content (although realistically I doubt they will ever do this).
lol you guys act like the world would end if you couldn't play xbox for a day or something. it's a console, not a life support system. I think everyone will be ok if there's a network outage.
Worst case scenario, should xbox one succeed despite always online and DRM, it could lead to Sony and Nintendo doing the same for their consoles in future generations, completely screwing those of us in the backwoods with shitty internet. I'm hoping that while it may not directly affect those with decent internet and buy games new, most people will avoid the xbox one, reducing its online community to the point where Microsoft gets the point and reverses their decision.
