Point is why buy a 500 dollar piece of hardware that has the potential to be a brick when you want to use it(for some people play time is actually limited) rather than buying one for 100 dollars cheaper and never having to worry about such a situation.

These "shitty practices" are also far less shitty to someone they do not effect. If they're a dealbreaker to you that's cool, don't support them. I buy all my games new or digital and my internet works fine. If it ever goes down it's never for 24 hours. If by some miracle it does I tether to my phone and I'm good for another 24 hours, neither of these things will ever be a problem to me. The one thing I am concerned about is games. With 15/KH3 coming to the Xbone there is 0 announced exclusives that sell me on the PS4. People spouting off about stupid shit like Stockholme syndrome need to open their eyes and see these things just aren't a problem to everybody.

Halo is clearly worth inferior online, inferior hardware, kinect required, $100 extra, no used games, always online, no indie support(or very little, microsoft treats indie devs like shit), and supporting a company that is anti-consumer and trying to shove shit down your throat and ruin the video game industry.

At least PS4 online multiplayer isn't free anymore..right? The only positive thing about xbox one. By giving microsoft your money, you're denying a good company like Sony your money, telling sony you don't care how nice they are to the consumer, and telling microsoft you're ok with everything they're doing and let them get away with shit. Guess what that tells microsoft as well? It tells them that they can do whatever the FUCK they want, and their next xbox will cost more money, and have more restrictions. It also tells sony they're not gaining anything from being a good company and making them also want to add infinite restrictions to their next console.

I typically dont' care, and sure as shit am not getting in this argument. But one of the things I hate about a lot of current games is DLC that is offered day 1 or a month after release. You know that shit could have been put in the original release and it's just a money grab. The problem is that these games sell and so do their DLC, so now a ton of publishers are doing it. So the point that if Juan does very well with these anti-consumer policies, then Sony/Nintendo may implement them in going further. It's just how developers and companies think. If it sells then the people obviously want it.

I'm not going to sit here and bash people for buying a Juan, that's their choice and I don't care, but I'm not going to pretend there aren't implications in those types of policies selling well.

Pretty much this for me. I don't really care that it checks in every 24 hours--I don't pirate things (not even tv shows, *gasp*) because I'm at a point in my life where if I can't be bothered to spend money on something I probably can't be bothered to spend time either. I don't typically resell or buy used games because I love the feeling of purchasing new and unwrapping, and that's worth the 5-10$ premium to me. I have had always-on internet since practically 2000, and I'm not terribly worried about doomsday scenarios where the MS servers are down.

I will probably be buying an XB1 because I want a device that acts as a media center for my TV. The skype integration looks great--I'll be able to comfortably watch sports on TV with my parents who live on the other side of the country and I only get to see 2 times a year. Hopefully the cable integration makes its way north to Canada. The PS4 so far hasn't shown that it has these capabilities. I'm willing to pay a $100 premium for them.

That said, I'm not about to pre-order anything yet. This competition for my affection has lots of time yet, so I'll let them both continue to woo me for now.
