Piracy was absolutely impossible on the PS3 for years. Impossible. It couldn't be done. To this day, it requires the technical know-how that few possess. If the Ps3 piracy rate was the reverse (10% piracy to 90% authentic), I would be genuinely shocked.

Which is basically the point of DRM and other measures. Obviously piracy has been less with consoles because they've taken steps to make it harder. Just like DRM, if there was no DRM, no blocks, not shit, everyone could just copy a disc on their PC and throw it in, piracy would be damn near through the roof and I think we all know it. Shit I would be downloading the fuck out of every game. People are greedy assholes, and that is why you need things like DRM if you want to keep a damn business running.

I think the average gamer is ok with DRM that prevents copying discs, but when companies go so far as to cut into used game sales it really pisses many gamers off. I personally don't buy used, but know people who do and if used game purchases/sales were made near impossible it would practically prevent them from participating in a hobby that they enjoy.

I knew someone was going to go this route, but its not true. DRM games are still pirated at a higher clip on PC than any games on consoles. It's an issue of opportunity and ease, not DRM. It's difficult to pirate on consoles, it's not on PC. DRM is a separate issue here. It's a hardware and culture issue.

This argument is going to just go around forever, however it will be seen soon with multiplatform titles as to which makes more money, the drm Xbox or the drm-free PS4. I'm betting on the ps4 versions.
