Whm can be Whm or Nin. Brd can be Brd or Blm. Guess I'll give it a go x2 tomorrow see how it goes.

Due to the preferred plans of people in my new Salvage group at the moment, we are doing the Zhayolm Remnants II Bloodshed Plans path twice every three days. However, we do not seem to have enough time to beat the two Hydras after killing all the plan NMs. We seemed to be doing well last night on time, but then we wiped at the last 10% of the first Hydra and couldn't recover from there. I am looking for some advice on how to improve our efficiency for Zhayolm Remnants II.
1. Our group's set up for this is WAR/SAM, THF/DNC, WHM/SCH, MNK/WAR, and empy BRD/WHM(mule). We initially had the first three people as THF/DNC, WHM/SCH, and COR/??? respectively. However, we realized that ranged cells were hard to come by and hoping for ranged for the BRD and COR was not a good idea. Would it be better if the WAR came as BLU? I've seen some posts list BLU in their setups for Zhayolm, but I'm worried about the need for a third person unlocking Magic.
2. How much time should it take to finish the first two floors? Our plan now is to just clear the first frog wing on the first floor and hope the right people get the right cells from the four Mamool Ja mobs in the first two floors and then unlocking what we need from the 2nd floor lamp.
3. On the third floor, we usually skip the Pugil rooms. We go for the Rampart that spawns the gears NM and kill the few pugil reinforcements. Then, we kill a few Mamool Ja NINs and BLMs and hope the necessary people unlock Max HP and/or Max MP. Then, we pop the gear NM and kill that. We skip the fourth floor completely to save time. Should I make any changes to these floors' strategy?
4. We just kill everything on the fifth floor and try to pull each gear/chariot one at a time. How much difficulty should the BRD have landing Horde Lullaby on the gears/chariots if we get too many links from a pull? The BRD will have CHR unlocked at this point, but other gear slots including ranged may or may not be unlocked.
5. By the time you reach the sixth floor, how much time remaining should we be aiming for to be able to clear the sixth floor room and kill the two Hydras?
6. For the Hydra NMs, I see some posts suggest sticking just one melee on the mob. Since the MNK has Formless Strikes and a lot of Subtle Blow, should the MNK be the only melee for the Hydra NMs or should the THF and the WAR (or BLU) melee as well? Are people fighting the Hydra NMs in PDT- gear?
Thanks in advance.
Tbh if you're thf is well geared you may as well have sub /nin and tank the NM, keeping the Mnk and War off. Especially if the problem is wiping, and not killspeed. Thf/Nin still has 40 subtle blow with rajas and auspice and you can just have mnk run in *IF* it Bulwarks. I can't imagine him getting off more than 4-5 TP moves through the whole fight. Even if Mnk has more subtle blow, Thf should mitigate more attacks meaning it wont get much TP from hitting you. I say it should mitigate more because I'm guessing no counterstance (assuming trembling + counterstance = KO)
I would have suggested mnk/nin for it, but if you're gonna gimp one melee to /nin to tank mb, it might as well be the thf. That way mnk can stay /war, do more dmg with formless if needed, and kill lower floor shit faster.
Food for thought.
For what it's worth, I've been killed by Trembling outright without Counterstance up, so I use it anyway.
Oldwiki says absorbed by 2-3 shadows, so that makes me think Thf/Nin is the better option even more.
I think your main problem is you are bringing too many people into salvage and are wasting a lot of time making sure everyone gets unlocked. I would suggest you break off into groups of three and two and have the two-man group find another person for their third slot. Also if this is your first salvage2 run(s) don't feel too bad as it takes a couple of runs to get into the rhythm of things.
Our setup is DRK/SAM BRD/THF and SCH/RDM. Our ZR2 runs take between 60 to 70 minutes to do.
Our run goes pretty much the same as yours. First floor get lamp unlocks then kill frogs in next room. Clear that wing and kill frog NM. Make sure you link all frogs on your main DD to give him/her TP a bit faster.
Second floor link each set of four crawlers so you gain TP faster as well, pop gear and go up.
Third floor sneak and pop Gears from rampart. Kill 1-2 BLM for magic unlocks for drk+brd. Pop gear, kill and go up.
Floor four skip.
Floor five clear gears/chariot in first room. Should get mostly everyone unlocked everything here except for ranged. Engage mamool rampart and keep it alive until your brd has ranged then kill NM. After mamool NM go kill the remaining gears/chariots on the floor and kill chariot NM.
Floor six have your brd and sch buff, engage and kill both ramparts. Have your brd round up and lullaby all the single gears near you. Clear single gears then have brd get the triple gears and bring them to you. Engage rampart, pop Hydra, kill it etc.
Floor seven do SV songs + embrava. Ride hybrid set when TE is down.
Having just done a few SSR runs myself, my thoughts:
1) This is a slow zone. Seems to take 20-30 minutes per floor. That said, the dvergrs are pretty quick kills -- 3 to 4 minutes each. Our setup was Whm, Thf (Aphotic), Run (Bereaver), with a roughly 50/50 split in damage between me (thf) and the run. If you can double your damage on thf compared to mine due to having a brd, then results should be similar.
2) I had a 50% evade rate in standard DD gear vs the dvergrs. Was able to be more offensive since I could TA the run and let him have hate and eat most the spells. A handful of evasion pieces could have pushed that over 70% easily while still keeping max haste. Note: have Manibozho Brais in my TP set, so a little evasion from that; I also started my Manibozho Beret on the evasion path, so I can get a ton of evasion there while still keeping haste.
3) No regain that I noticed. Together the two used a total of 11 TP moves.
4) He was hitting the run for about 750 damage nukes, at most. I got hit with a Firaga III for 432, but no single target spells to allow for comparison without run's defenses (though the run got hit by the Firaga for 505, I might have had cureskin on at the time, so hard to say).
5) Unfortunately I don't remember which moves wipe shadows. Possibly the majority of them, as I cast Utsu 9 times, but only blinked 9 direct attacks.
6) Yes, the dvergrs can use any element for the single target nukes, but only ever saw Firaga III for AOE.
7) Terror was a pretty minor threat; I expect that you'd hit your PDT/MDT gear set immediately for that, and we were never in serious danger from it. The annoyance was (I think) Necrobane, with its curse effect that drops HP in half; luckily didn't follow that up with any firagas. Getting rid of the magic def down was pretty easy for the whm, and never seemed to be a notable threat for us.
Necropurge (not "bane") is absorbed by shadows. It is physical damage as it does not affect my magic barrier (blu spell). Necrobane does not wipe shadows. Cackle does not wipe shadows. He does not have regain. Thundris shriek wipes shadows. Not sure what range is, but it's smaller than 15'. Shriek > nuke is not deadly unless maybe you're a taru (shriek damage is very weak, 200-300 with shell; it does 0 damage with magic barrier). The only danger is necrobane/purge > nuke, or cackle > nuke, both of which can be avoided with shadows or magic barrier. Our THF goes /NIN and I go BLU/RDM. SCH/RDM for heals.
Most people use WHM on him for the quick sacrifice, which is totally understandable. I do like the regen from embrava + regen V though, especially after uncursing someone. BLU has its own AoE erase anyway so I don't need sacrifice.
Awesome, thanks for the intel guys.
Would rigor mnk or ugu Sam be better fit for SSR2 bosses?
mnk/nin would make a quick work out of it, or mnk/war or sam if u have some MDT and u get caught by some spell, most important is to sacrifice fast , and holy water for the curse move, it's really not that bad
Wow that zone sucks...
I didn't realise it's so slow. What the fuck with 2/3 the run with like no equipment. That's lame, one song brd is seriously ftl.
Had to skip Chariot, but managed to kill NQ + HQ with 1min remaining. Guess it's not so bad as spent half the run tabbing out to wiki to remind myself where to go.
Think I'm gonna make a Cursna macro that makes the brd drop a c4 too... >.> got to 15HP at one point
Every zone except BR is quick is you cleave the mobs with WAR or DRK and use Phalanx (RDM or SCH).
ZR: Cleave first floor, second floor, single target third floor, skip fourth, single target the fifth floor, and cleave the sixth floor (Not Hydra of course). Use one of the SPs (In our case, Embrava or MS) and save the other for the HQ.
SSR: Cleave the first, second, and part of the third floor (3-6 orobon; two ramparts worth of gears/triples or just one rampart worth); sneak to the Dvergr
AR: Cleave the first floor (Find Chigoe room first), the second floor, single the third floor (NMs onry), single target the fourth floor (Could cleave; never tried though), Single until you get weapon/body and then cleave one pack of triples for stats; pop the NM normally and fight etc

That's why I detailed Hydra and didn't even mention the rest of the NMs.
Wonder if anyone could give us some advice, We're still fairly new to Salvage 2 and we're Having trouble on Khrysokhimaira, We usually go with 4 but 4th is away at the moment so we're currently going MNK/WAR THF/WAR WHM/RDM but Fulmination just destroys us, is it best to bring a stunner? Or is there another way we're not thinking of? Any help would be appreciated.
Have the THF sub WHM and sit behind the WHM.
Khim+MNK -- 20' -- WHM -- 20' -- THF/WHM
THF/WHM can paralyna the WHM
I assume so, but this would be better imo.
Stun works fine if you have a dedicated character to focus on Stun. I've seen a resist once on Fulmination since the event's inception.
