Just to be clear, the working theory is port to 4f before 50 minutes, or kill the 2 gears before 50 minutes?

Friends had less than 30 min left by the time they got to floor 4, and they got NM just by killing fast. They timed out with less than 5 min left for HQ.

So, this debunks the zone up with more than 39 minutes left, zoned up with around 31 minutes to go.
This was one of my kill at same time fights, 11 seconds between kills.
First gear was killed last, 2nd gear died in 1:03 sec upon engaging first gear, kill time unknown, switched mid fight etc. Likely took around 30-40 sec.
First gear died 1:14 from initial engage.

First kill was from melee, 2nd one from WS.

Any other ideas hehe? Are we sure kill super fast isn't it? Any parses of killing super fast and no pop. None of this 'we killed it very fast but no pop', need actual timings.

Just to reiterate from a long ways back, 4F Bhaflau gear NM is not dependant on killing both gears, as I've seen it pop after killing one. What that means, I have no fucking clue.

In recent runs of BR2, I renamed the single gear in BR2 as gear1 gear2 gear3 (NM) and I pulled them one by one.

Yesterday: Gear2 (45s) > Gear1 (1min10s), NM no pop.
Today: Gear1 > Gear2, NM pop. About 30-40s killing each gear (forgot to use Kparser so I use stopwatch for timing).

Theory 1: Kill gear within 1 min of aggro/pull (will try this again tomorrow)
Theory 2: Kill the gear in order of 1>2 (most likely not as many ppl would have seen this NM if the chance of poping is 50%)

Here's the parse on the individual fights if anyone curious about how strong they are, looks like 65k hp HQ, 47k hp NQ, 35k hp chariot. All 3 fights no pdt gear, just shell v prot V from a rdm. Bard SV on HQ, marcato on chariot, regular on nq.

I posted earlier that ZR2 drops more bloodshed. However, if you're after skadi stuff, you will still need to kill hydra for gears (best choice considering you can still get umbrage). But, if you're after ares, you definitely want to do ZR full time. Got 7 bloodshed 3 umbrage a few times.

For AR2 we get 40-50+ alexandrite from clearing 5th and 6th floor. I also don't bother with PDT vs khim. He's not nearly as strong as hydra. No BRD but we use embrava on the HQ.

Just did Arra and killed Armored Chariot in 97 seconds but didn't get NQ Khim to pop from Rampart. Actually quite baffled by it as we've had HQ Khim every single Arra run we've done prior to today. Today was the first time we went out of the way to kill Armored Chariot quickly and check killspeed too so yeah absolutely stumped. Full cleared everything else on the way up (except 5F Ramparts), didn't kill all the chariots before trying to pop Khim just the ones in the large room.

We can't think of a single thing we did differently to previous runs other than killing Armored Chariot first (normally we just killed whatever is closest). So glitched out/bad luck or something obscure we did on the run to prevent it popping, idk.

Did another BR2 today, didn't get gear NM yet again. I did get the gob, doing my usual routine. Some things to note, I killed both 4th floor gears with Smite, but I was weakened from being stupid on Floor 3 (trained most of gears to porter room and died lol). I ported to floor 4 around the 50 minute mark or so (entered at :07 and saw :56/:57 from a SS I took raising myself when I ported up). Did not engage the gears for about 2 minutes up top, then said fuck it and buffed up. Took me around 1.5-2 mins to kill each though.

I think I've gotten the gear NM to pop completely skipping floor 3 before (not aggroing anything at all). I always suspected it had something to do with floor 3 because sometimes I aggro and kill a few gears while others I just train and port up.

As for the 4F gear NM, I was able to pop it on the 2nd run, but not the first run. Someone mentioned something about killshot, and in the first run I had killed both gear via ws, but this run I simply just melee'd them down in the last few %, and voila.

A sample size of 1 isn't convincing, but maybe others can try just melee killshot and see.

EDIT: I also killed them within 3 seconds of each other, whereas in the first run, I killed 1 then killed the other.

for bhaf2 i always kill the nw 2nd room of 3 gears (skip the first room), skip the big room, and kill the middle room of 3 gears. the Gear NM on 4th floor has always popped except once when i only killed one of the gears in the middle and went up at 39 minutes remaining. other than that it has popped every time and i have done the same thing every time. so that is why i thought it was either time remaining or killing specific gear on 3f. everytime i kill the 2 gear on 4F to pop NM i aggro both, get one down to 25% hp, switch to the other and kill it, then go back to the one that was almost dead.

For what its worth, from todays run, one gear was killed by WS, one was killed by melee strikes.

In regards to Windwalker's rampart popping.

We always do the West 4 ramparts and they spawn Thf>Pld>Drk>Rdm fomors when pulled individually. When we linked the first set(Thf/Pld) they spawn Thf and Blm fomors, when linking the second set we got Drk and Mnk. Each time we chose to link the second group to fight Mnk fomors, Windwalker's rampart would pop for us. Could be coincidence and there is 1 random rampart of the 8 that will spawn Mnks, but of the 2 times we've linked the second pair after noticing Mnk mobs, we got 1 set of Mnks replacing Rdms and Windwalker's rampart popped.

Confirming pop condition - killing one rampart of MNKs from the central 2F area. Popping MNKs involves linking ramparts, as we already knew from the keen observation in Verendus's post. Since it's fucking annoying to link them when water weather spawns, I found a trick that works. Pull one corner of shit, whether it links or not, and grab a rampart, sleep it. Kill all the Ashu. Make the person with hate run a little ahead of the rampart, sneak them up, have them run past the hallway, and wake up the rampart. The rampart will chase them through the hallway, linking the ramparts on the way, and they will spawn as their alternate types. We did this in one corner and we got 3x MNK and 3x BLM instead of the normal DRK and RDM mobs. Killing the ramparts and the MNKs made the NM rampart pop (killed a BLM last and can confirm that the rampart popped as the last MNK died, before the BLM died). Huge thanks to Verendus for leading us to this solution.

Edit: In case it might help someone, I think the RDMs popped as the MNKs.
