Salvage II - Slavage Harder

Also, Bhaf2 last night, entered on Earthday, cleared 3F, warped up on Watersday, ran straight to the gears and killed them one at a time. I killed the first one, NIN/THF killed the second one, both died to melee damage, NM popped.

We were going to try something silly and leave someone not completely unlocked for killshots, but while killing all the rampart reinforcements it slipped our minds that they unlock whatever you're missing, haha.

Edit: Pulled both gears with no aggro or links as well.

I hundred fists the first cerberus, sorry. His pdt seems to be much more potent than seether(if seether has any at all?)so I like ending him quick.

They dont unlock magic, proof is above.

That's useful to know. All we were missing by that point were stats so we screwed the test anyway, haha.

Haven't fought him myself, but according to FFXIAH, he takes increased magic damage as his PDT rises. There was a pic of a Thunder V for 9k or something. It seems requiescat would obliterate him if that's true.

Not that anyones gonna test, but maybe its a balance, phys and magic start neutral, as the fight progresses, it develops resistance based on what kind of damage it takes, but as one goes up, the other drops?

I'd believe this actually; I had the opportunity to nuke it on RDM once and they landed for good damage. I also Drain II the Seether before I SE/BW it, and it always absorbs a lot of HP.

Any trick to breaking hydra heads? Killed it last night but never chopped off any.

This is the case. Popped formless strikes the other day rather early, did normal dmg. Popping it later in the fight gives noticeably better dmg.

Pretty sure this is the case. A guy in my LS always says he does way less damage than me despite us using the same job/weapons. The only reason I can think is that I keep endark up + our SCH occasionally nukes and Kaustras the HQ. I don't know what he does on his runs but I'd be willing to wager he doesn't do all three of them.

Duoed sam+whm, so I assume sam+whm+thf work, only issue was sam not criting that much never removed hydra heads so it took forever. Enraged hydra hit hard so was in hybrid dt/haste most of the time, also holy water for nerve gaz make whm life easier.

How did you deal with shields? Your sam had Murasamemaru I assume?

seriously give yourself 15 minutes per fight as a safety net, because it can go that long if you're unlucky with PDT shields, not to mention you have to fight in turtled mode otherwise with 3 heads, the likelihood of it 1shotting you is surprisingly high (when compared to other mobs means of 1shotting).

Nah, that thing doesn't exist ! shield doesn't last long at all.

lasts almost minute, its a pretty long time if you reach NQ hydra with 30 minutes to spare, especially considering its regening HP during that time.

No HQ Dvergr. Only change to path was that we didn't fight any of the 2nd floor mega-room ramparts (NMs + gtfo) or the rampart otw there. We avoided one of the three ramparts within the 3x Chariot rooms of the fourth floor. So if this is tied to total number of enemies defeated, you would need to fight more than 8 short of the total ramparts of the zone.

I guess I'm spoiled by sam dmg as solo dd in there, but we def take less than 30 min to kill both hydra. It was actually harder to survive enraged hydra for us than to kill it.

Or just use twilight scythe. I killed the hq one in under 6 min, and he was spaming bulwark. Did like 85k dmg total when it died, never chopped off any heads either so almost died few times lol. Does it regen heads once you chop em off?

Doubt mura would be that useful cause you will hit for 0 so can't really ws it cause no tp, unless you saving med for it.
