I TP in my normal TP set. I've died once in the six or seven SSRs we've done. I just equip MDT when my HP gets yellow, then swap back after a Cure. After you get Cackle'd sit in MDT until your WHM can Sacrifice and Cure you.

    Edit: On MNK.

You're forgetting shell counts towards MDT cap, very easy to cap out mdt in a capped haste tp set with shellra5+sheltered ring, even more so if augmented legs. Also I wouldn't recommend not tping in an mdt hybrid unless you're very comfortable in your dualboxing, provides a good safety net and doesn't hurt DPS much.

    I go with this:

    Spharai - - Demonry Stone
Ganesha's Mask Twilight Torque Moonshade Earring Brutal Earring
Thaumas Coat Melee Gloves +2 Defending Ring Shadow Ring
Engulfer Cape Black Belt Thaumas Kecks Melee Gaiters +2

the mask and Melee hands/feet are for HP to give me a little more buffer while still maintaining 26% haste. THF tags it once then gets off. MNK/WAR only thing on it, it rarely does a TP move with auspice + penance. I have never had to use sacrifice, just pop cureskin on tank and do an erase or two. Nothing is more funny when you see Dvergr readies Thundris Shriek, Protey recovers X-amount of damage because of Engulfer Cape (no terror either).

I should put myself in the line of fire more often so this information doesnt sit in the back of my mind lol. Only a handful of worthwhile MDB pieces that I saw, and most of them are EX or dont seem to exist much.

^-thats pretty much all I found too.

How should a group consisting of Sam, Thf, Whm kill Cerberus? Things DT- gets way out of hand at low HP, 19% we just gave up after what was already a 20 minute fight...

1-change sam to mnk or drk (or put thf on mnk/drk and change sam to thf)
    2-get a murasamemaru
3-change whm to sch and toss out a couple nukes to offset its PDT (it works like a balance, as PDT goes up, MDT goes down)

So the more physical damage you do to it, the weaker his MDT becomes, and if you do magic damage, it lowers his PDT? Hmmmm, Whm might be going SCH then...

You're pretty much screwed with that set up on cerb. Without some form of magic damage or twilight scythe/formless strikes/ murasamemaru, requiescat you basically end up hitting for 0 all the time when he starts spamming stoneskin.

So if you can, switch the sam to mnk or drk or blow millions of gil on 5 murasamemaru cells. Could also try switching the whm to rdm or sch if they have it, but then you'd be low on healing power.

i go thf/dnc mnk/war whm/rdm. formless strikes not even needed. without using hundred fists (i use it on the three tri-gears) and without formless strikes, it's a 7 minute fight on both nq and hq cerb. have thf open with shark bite, and mnk close light with shijin spiral.

How do you deal with the immense -pdt he builds during the fight with that setup? without formless strikes, you have no way of pushing past the -pdt, and no way of keeping it low with magic dmg(whm healer).

When do we recommend using Formless? Start and then compensate for the MDT offset with WSs or some low % to finish it off?

I usually use it around 50-60% on the NQ so that I don't have to sit around afterwards waiting on it before fighting the Seether.

don't need to. and it's not immense. not like i'm hitting for 0. Mind you my mnk isn't average by far, i have top notch gear. a more run of the mill mnk would probably have more problems with the -pdt. o, and i don't use food either.

I go with mnk/war whm/thf 2boxed and I formless nq around 75%, its usually nearly dead when it wears off, go straight up to seether and formless is usually up again when its around 30-50%. Mnk doesn't need formless strikes to make either fight well under 10mins (assuming good gear and not just the cookie cutter 85vereth/thaumas coat/ganesha's mask retards you see everywhere) but that is due to mnk's tp/ws damage split being far more even than sam's.

I use 2hr on triple gears (never needed to but it covers the absolute worst case scenario such as ranging my intial WS and every tp move is restoral).

Thanks, I'll go back to paying attention people that actually have something useful to add beyond arrogance I guess... I fully understand that it's beatable without formless strikes or magic dmg. but it's certainly MUCH easier/faster with them.

even dualboxing, i'm more than certain as long as your mage is a whm (c5/6, you'd want sacrifice anyways tbh), you should be able to tp in your standard gear; nukes never break 1.5k from what i've seen in my experiences, and while it'd bring you really low, just mere foresight by having your c5 (or c6) macro ready should be more than enough room to handle it accordingly

on the other hand though, yeah, even with a full -magic set, remove cackle immediately via sacrifice or else there's a pretty big chance of a one-shot, but that taken care of, he'll never ever kill you

if you really want to be super safe, you could tp in a full magic reduction set and still kill within a relatively fast time frame since he doesn't have any particularly special "panic" instances, bar necropurge's curse followed by the chance of a nuke cast immediately afterward, but standard -magic upon him cursing you should allow you to live through the upcoming spell as long as cackle isn't on you as mentioned above

Not that it makes a huge difference, but I think they are all guaranteed to drop at least 1 alex as well.
Just giving a second account of coinpurse off the single gears. Killed all nine, all dropped at least one alex (one or two dropped two, one dropped a purse in addition to the alex. Definitely worthwhile if you can spare a few minutes on F4.
