Just giving a second account of coinpurse off the single gears. Killed all nine, all dropped at least one alex (one or two dropped two, one dropped a purse in addition to the alex. Definitely worthwhile if you can spare a few minutes on F4.

And the drop rate on the purses blows. Cleared them four times so far and 1 purse. Probably 2-5% if Slycer only got one as well. (with THF).

Cleared it twice, one purse each time (2/18). Was hoping maybe it was guaranteed off one of the nine, but I guess no luck with that.

when i do BR2 i kill all NMs, gears, chariot, ramparts (anything that drops alex) all without food. so like i said, waste of gil.

With 3 ppl? Does that include all the gears on 3rd floor?

Also, when its PDT gets high it seems to get really spammy with TP moves. I've seen 4 Acheron Flame/Hades within about 15 seconds, not that it's particularly threatening, just worth noting.

I just noticed this killing HQ now. I'm usually SCH or RDM with the peeps I normally go with, but I decided to 2box MNK + WHM tonight for the 1st time. Was the first time I've seen HQ get so spammy with the TP moves at the end. I thought it was because I thought it would be fun on Firesday lol. That was also popping formless strikes at 50%

ls mate wants me to ask about hq hydra and how dd's are surviving it. he has 41% pdt and he claims that at the very beginning it quad attacked and killed him out right away (400-500) per hit and his set was on). It was his first time fighting it, maybe just really bad luck?

just the usual slow2/para2/blind2, ride seigan/eye and mages be damned quick?

also curious about how CS tanking and dealing with serpent tail (does his dispel?) thinking of throwing a 99 spharai at it.

Or is ochain really the best option?

Counterstance has really been making things hard on me for all the bosses. Had a really rough time on NQ khim last night because counterstance wasn't countering and I was just taking a ton of damage. On the HQ I kept counterstance off and even with berserk up, I was taking nearly half the dmg with each hit as I took from NQ. That fight was a walk in the park, had no problem keeping my hp up. NQ khim I took 10k dmg(~8k from melee, 282 average per hit 42% counter rate with CS) just getting him to 40% when he tourbillioned me behind a wall and killed me(poor positioning on my part). HQ khim only did 16k the entire fight, 164 average per hit with berserk up(11% counter rate). After berserk wore, I didn't take a single hit over 200 dmg. These bosses are low level enough that defense actually has a significant impact.

Whats your accuracy like? If you counterstance with AF2+2 boots and 5/5 merits, you should already be looking at a 72% counter rate (12 base, 5 merits, 45 counterstance, 10 boots).

Are you activating counterstance in melee gaiters +2? NQ/HQ khim are generally the easiest bosses for me. Though if you're not counter tanking, you would be best off switching to another DD really. For reference, I ride counterstance and have no issues on all of the bosses. I use a hybrid pdt set on HQ hydra, used to have issues with unlucky oneshots before.

I have yet to die to either Hydra (although I've only done Zhayolm II twice). I fulltime Counterstance and standard TP gear (Vereth, I don't have Spharai). I've never been hit with Serpent Tail, which I assume only happens if you tank it from behind, and I stand at the front to try and break off the heads. My WHM is pretty good at keeping cureskin on me, but I've never seen it quad-attack. Triple-attack yeah, but not quad.

Keep Holy waters on you for Nerve Gas.

Edit: On the topic of Counterstance, my evasion rate has been floored on every boss except NQ Khim in standard TP gear. I fulltime Counterstance on every boss, and in my experience, it significantly reduces the overall damage I take. I can start saving my parses if people want to see them. My counters also typically (Cerbs notwithstanding) add approximately ~8-9k damage to the boss, which is nearly a sixth of their total HP.

I can do NQ without Counterstance and HQ with, and post my parse results if people care.

Hit rate was 94.75% against nq. and yes I use gaiters. counterstance just took a shit on me that day, on everything.

edit: oh, and that counter rate was including using perfect counter throughout the fight.

yea no backwards tanking for hydra then, completely forgot about breaking the heads and the regen., i'll tell him about hybrid pdt/haste set and have him do one up. My group isn't on hydra yet we're zerging that silly cerb so no worries on that for a bit.

I feel sorry for the other group, all 4 of them want skadi from hydra.
