I did a statistical analysis of hundreds of rampart entries way back when I did Salvage, I'm nearly certain that they are either flagged or not flagged to pop NMs. It's safe to say the chance of them being flagged to pop NMs is around 25% for all four (note that when MB was random, it was much higher on F1, but when they un-randomized MB, they made it equal to other floors).

Based on a large pool of data which I can link or cite on request, the chance of seeing a NM in the bottom 50% of a rampart's life if you did not see one in the first 50% of the rampart's life is approximately 17%.

So that makes it about a 3.5% pop rate. That would make sense if I'm biasing my sample high by chopping off the lower end of the distribution, which is why I was guessing 5%. Also, my sample size wasn't that large because I didn't have to do a billion Bhaflaus to cap out gear for myself and my mules.

Using FFXIDB's ratio of Gate Widow kills to Chigoe kills (1295/111434) and a 3.5% pop rate, it would make the "active rampart" rate approximately 33%. 4% would be about 30%. 5% would be ~25%.

Did you ever see just 1 NM pop?

During the 100 or so BR runs I had we always got atleast 2NMs with an active Rampart with the most being 8 NMs.

Obviously I was not doing Salvage with the sole purpose of collecting data, so the data itself is not perfect. Most of the cases where there were no NM pops are cut off at 30-50% of the rampart's remaining life, so I had to adjust the overall estimated rates slightly considering the potential for the NMs being flagged to pop and just not popping.

In case you're wondering, pre-update, F1 pop rate was just shy of 50%, the other three were 20~30%. Post-update, all four were in the 20~30% range. 25% is a safe bet as I said above, although it may be slightly higher.

3.5% pop rate (when NMs are popping) is correct from the data I collected, with a bit of variability from floor to floor.

Never seen just 1 NM. We did see the 1st NM as low as 30% though (and of course the jerk NM at 2%). If you really want that 35 stay on the rampart for as long as possible... but if you're trying to maximize the number of NMs you see, kill early.

Across all four ramparts, I have 12 recorded instances of staying from 100 to 0 with exactly one NM popping out of 175 instances of ramparts with NMs popping (which, in turn, is out of 609 recorded rampart instances). Assuming a proper statistical distribution with a 3.5% pop rate, the odds of 1 NM popping with the rampart flagged to pop should be just about 10% so it's slightly underrepresented here, but given the sample size, that doesn't really mean anything. Highest number I have is also 8.

tl;dr, yeah you can have only one pop.

Makes sense that it would be underrepresented given that you killed ramparts after 30~50%. Ramparts that make it to 30~50% are much more likely than other ramparts to pop only one NM.

Ya. Could approximate the underrepresentation based on the pop rates, but not really worth it. Safe to say, it can happen.

sch + war to fell cleave and you can clear to 4th floor in like 20 min np. I bring 3rd char as pup for discoids or bst would work too.
embrava will last till you clear 2nd floor anyways. Embrava isnt nerfed in old salv, and with phalanx you get hit for 0 anyways.
Only problem is get to boss with like 15 minutes remaining on recast, can sit and wait or just kill without.

never had khimmy lithic me when side tanking.
Never had the dahak petro eye me while back tanking either etc, if you bring sch and cant stona cause no ja yet.

I kept statistics on every run we ever did in Salvage, including whether or not a rampart popped any NM what-so-ever, and it came out to about a 15-20% "active chance" per rampart with a 4% pop chance per active rampart. That is with leaving a rampart at 50% if it didn't pop anything.

Bhaflau NM's did have the highest drop percentage, so once you actually do get NM's to pop you're pretty much guaranteed a drop, in part because each NM has a 35% drop chance, and with 4 NM's on an active rampart, on average you should get at least 1 drop per time a rampart is active.

Sadly, as I haven't played for over 2 years I believe I've lost said statistics.

Since you talking about BR1. I'm 0/6 on Gate window this week /mad

I read all walktrough , i don't understand how to pop Floor3 Rampart.

I have to kill all center area pudding first? there is a lot of them.
Walktrough saying to finish them with nuke, does it matter? * build resist ? *
Where the Dormant Rampart pop exactly?
East and West room have like 10 gears each. Which 1 i kill at the same time?
    thx><

For the F2 Rampart to spawn, you have to kill all four Empathic Flans while they are in "spiky head" mode. A certain amount of magic damage, including skillchains, will take them out of spiky mode, but doing only physical damage to them will keep them spiky. The bit about "finishing with nukes" just means that if you kill them with a nuke, they won't have a chance to switch out of spiky mode and the rampart will still spawn.

Go to the west room, grab the triple gear (Archaic Gears), go to east room, pull the triple gear (Archaic Gears) and kill them both simultaneously. You don't have to worry about the single gears at all.

The rampart will spawn at the back of one of the rooms where the gears are. And 5 seconds is enough, the window is quite large and they also do not need to be close to each other for the rampart to spawn.

Just hang in there with Ramparts, they will put out eventually I went a week without skirmish and then he spawned 5 times.

i have only seen one NM three times. two of the times it was between 50 - 70%. The third time it was at lol 2%. This out of at least an estimated 250 BR runs (I've done over 1,000 old salvage runs, and estimating 1/4 of them in BR). Mind you, the vast majority of runs would kill rampart at 50%. only when got down to only needing 2 ramparts did take it down to 0.

Are some of the ramparts in SSR2 sound and sight agro? or True sound? or HP or am I just going mad?

I'm pretty sure ramparts with the gate open are sight aggro. I'm also pretty sure gears link by sight with ramparts, but not positive on that one. Was noticing some kind of funky linking stuff in AR2 in the 4 rampart room, they didn't seem to come after me until they were in the line of sight of the rampart gate. I could just be crazy though.

When I was running to the Dverger boss in SSR2, I skip past all those ramparts but occasionally they would aggro with sneak on. I just toss sneak and invis on now, the aggroing sight with gate open seems likely.

    SSR2 aggro:
F2: center area = sound, outer areas = true
    F3: all sound
F4: not sure about first couple rooms. Roaming rampart in big center room is just sound. Ramparts in last few rooms that open and close are true sound aggro/link when open and DO NOT aggro/link when closed. Everything on F4 can be avoided by hugging walls regardless.

Random tangentially related question - has anyone else noticed that monster aggro range seems to decrease from what you would expect when you are moving past while hugging a wall (not just in Salvage)?
