As the title states, i'm looking for some recommendations for desktop speakers.
Previously I was using my home theater system but I got a new desk and moved into a room upstairs and left my man cave
Looking for either a quality 2.1 or 5.1.
Thanks.

there's a thread on this down the page a bit: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/113...puter-speakers
I think this was the best recommendation for 2.1: http://www.klipsch.com/promedia-2-1-computer-speakers
Logitech Z623, or Z2300 used either is great and better than klipsch imo. I had both and returned the klipsch.
My problem is that I do not have a lot room underneath my monitors for speakers so they need to be rather small but I don't shitty speakers either
I used to own 5.1 system from Logitech but it annoys me that they still use those damn clamps and bare wire method of connecting the speakers.
I have a similar pair to those Klipsch and before them a 5.1 set. I had issues with both sets. The 5.1 I had the fuse blew in the sub and then a new fuse never acted right. Then the control disc broke and would randomly play full volume static. The 2.1 set The control module which is the same as the model listed above went out. The volume controls would create static.
I dealt with Klipsch customer service on that since it was only 8 months or so after purchase. While their customer service was good, I had to have my receipt from Best buy or they wouldn't deal with me. I got lucky and Best buy was still able to print the receipt for me. They sent me a new module and they work fine now and are very good.
I hate 5.1 computer speakers. It's not worth the money if you ask me. Get a really nice 2.1 setup and you won't regret it. I am a bit of an audiophile so I really searched for a great pair of low profile computer speakers. I recommend the ones I ended up with:

Got these to replace my 5.1 system... I regret nothing. I love them, my neighbors hate them.
Logitech Speaker System Z623
Harman Kardon Soundsticks III
It's too bad you don't have the space, otherwise a decent pair of studio monitors will crush any tinny 2.1 PC setup out there.
Google Swan M50W to find sites selling them (I see around $299) - the Dealers link on their site, where you would go to find them to buy, doesn't seem incredibly accurate. At least the two random places I looked didn't turn them up in their own site's search. Either way looks like 300 bucks. They look sexy.
