I just think its crazy that her school actually practices lockdown. When I was in school we had fire drills, and bomb drills. Crazy how times have changed.

I remember when I was a kid all of our drills were the same. Orderly line, single file, no running, get into position on the big lawn next to the playground. For everything. One time I asked what we should do if someone had a gun (Kindergarten Cop was totally just out on VHS). They said we do the drill. I asked if that wouldn't make it easier to shoot us all. They got really really uncomfortable.

Currently: Adam Lanza (Ryan's younger brother) is dead as the shooter, and Ryan is in custody. Possibly Ryan's Id was taken from Adam, which is why he was incorrectly identified.

How does anyone know this kid is even insane? We -do- remove the insane people - after the fact. You can't remove someone until they've done something to warrant being removed. Your solution solves nothing.

Insanity is not something that can be measured until something happens. His point was that nobody knows if the kid had mental health issues. It's pretty easy to make a perfectly normal guy snap under the right circumstances.

Not that easy, and if you want it to be, then its technically impossible to follow your previous suggestion about stopping the insane before they strike, because its impossible to tell who is going to shoot up a goddamn school.

What you can, control, however, is who obtains the goddamn guns. Even if I wanted to cut up a school with my authentic-ass katana hanging on my wall, I doubt I'm going to be able to get 30 people before I'm taken down. I also am not insane, nor would I have to be insane to physically walk down the street to the local elementary school and carve up some kids.

A sane person can still do this with a high-powered weapon, because its easy and effortless. Notice how the truly insane tend to do some crazy shit that's crazy difficult to pull off? Flaying off the skin of an individual? Keeping someone locked up on their property for years and years? That shit is insane. A bunch of 20-somethings shooting up malls and schools isn't insane; its fucking easy, and that's the goddamn problem.

We have our FD Christmas/Stag party tonight... Should be really interesting. Lots of very right republicans with money who absolutely hate Obama, lots of idiots and ex military, lots of parents. Going to be a good night to drink scotch, maybe hold off on the cigars this year though.
