No point was being made other than me pointing out that security in schools across America varies greatly. Also, each school district seems able to set and change their policies autonomously.

I've been out of touch due to the holidays so forgive me if this has been discussed already (I'm sure it has) but I've seen a few conflicting reports from various news outlets. The medical examiner says all of the children were killed by an assault rifle but a CNN article states they found 3 guns at the school, a '.223 Bushmaster AR in the trunk' and 2 pistols on his person where he lay dead. Does anybody have anything additional to add to this by chance? Any sort of 'official word' now that the smoke has cleared?

I was only curious. Would be odd for him to shoot the place up with the AR, run out to the parking lot, throw it in the trunk, then run back in? I'm mostly looking for a definitive report about it is all.

Hasn't been much released in terms of reconstruction of the events. Most likely he fired all his rounds from the AR in to the first room, went back to the car and grabbed his pistols and tossed the AR in. He probably then noticed the heat was on and ducked back in the school. Unable to continue, he took the quick way out. He killed himself.

He had the rifle on him and the two handguns. There was a shotgun found in his car.

That's why I was asking if anybody had anything definitive. Here is a snippet from the CNN article:

"Three weapons were recovered from the school: a semi-automatic .223 Bushmaster found in a car in the school parking lot, and a Glock and a Sig Sauer found with Lanza's body, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation said. The weapons were legally purchased by Lanza's mother, the official said."

(Reuters) - A New York City woman who used her Facebook page to dupe donors into contributing to a "funeral fund" for one of the children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre was charged with lying to the FBI, court documents showed.

Nouel Alba, 37, of the Bronx, used a Facebook page to pose as the aunt of one of the victims, 6-year-old Noah Pozner, and encouraged potential donors to contribute to a PayPal account in her name she had set up last February, according to court papers.

Alba, who made an initial appearance on Thursday before a U.S. magistrate in Connecticut, also claimed to have visited Sandy Hook school to identify the body of the boy, court records show, even though the school was an active crime scene closed off to parents.

When contacted by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents probing reports of fraudulent fundraising following the December 14 shooting, Alba claimed not to have posted any information related to Newtown on her Facebook account, or to have solicited donations or recently accessed her PayPal account.

Authorities also charge that she claimed falsely to have immediately refunded donations that she received.

She has been charged with a single count of lying to a federal agent, according to court papers. If convicted, Alba faces a maximum five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. She was released on a $50,000 bond.

Alba's next court appearance was set for January 16.

Her arrest on Thursday came roughly two weeks after police say 20-year-old Adam Lanza forced his way into the Sandy Hook school, killing 20 first graders and six staff members with a semi-automatic weapon.

Before the rampage, police say Lanza killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, at their home about 5 miles from the school. Lanza killed himself as police arrived at the school in response to 911 calls.

The massacre ranks as the second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history after the 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia, which left 32 people dead.

The public defender assigned to Alba's case did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment. Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorneys Office in New Haven did not return calls seeking comment.

This mess sprouts up often after these kinds of events. I know people were being accused (dunno if they went to court) of fraud after the Colorado Mall shooting for doing, essentially, the same thing.

They're far worse than ambulance-chasing lawyers. These people are nothing but emotional predators.

Farmington police have arrested a 31-year-old Avon man accused of threatening to shoot his ex-girlfriend, her 11-year-old son and referencing committing crimes similar to those committed in Newtown and Columbine.

Farmington police arrested Darnell Jerome Davis at his house on Thursday, took him into custody and he is being held on $2.5 million bond.

The investigation began in Hartford on Dec. 27, when Davis’ ex-girlfriend complained of receiving threats while she was at work. She told officers she feared for her safety as well as for her coworkers' safety.

Police investigated and learned Davis had sent several threatening text messages to the victim on Dec. 17, while she was at home in Farmington, police said.

According to the warrant, Davis' texts included:

"Imma shoot ur son school U leave me" and "Adam Lanza did God's work," referencing the man who shot and killed 20 first graders and six staff members of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

The ex-girlfriend told police that "Davis had threatened to shoot up her son's school," and said it would be worse than the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 first graders and six staff members were killed.

The arrest warrant application states that the victim told police that there were photos on Facebook showing Davis holding a shotgun and an assault rifle.

The investigation became a joint effort between Hartford and Farmington police and Farmington officers found Davis at his residence on Dec. 27.

When they questioned him, David said he did not remember the texts, but then began to cry, said he used a lot of marijuana and it has an affect on his memory, according to police.

Davis told police that he never had intentions of killing his ex-girlfriend or her son, but that he was angry and wanted to hurt her emotionally, according to police.

Officers did not find guns at Davis’ residence and police do not believe he owns any guns.

Davis was charged with two counts of criminal violation of a protective order, breach of peace in the second degree, threatening in the second degree and harassment in the second degree.

Police said Davis had been arrested six times for incidents related to the relationship and there was a protection order in place when the messages were allegedly sent on Dec. 17, but the restraining order and GPS bracelet from a prior domestic incident were removed on Dec. 18.

Court records show prior convictions for second-degree stalking and drug possession charges out of Bristol, harrassment charges in Farmington in 2008 and a violation of a protective order in Farmington in November.
