I apparently hate myself enough that I try to logically debate with conservatives on a few blogs/forums.

Recent sob story:

I had a group of people rallying against me as if I was insane for simply asserting that "there’s a problem", in regards to gun violence. I didn't try to say what caused it, how big or severe the problem was, how to solve it, or why... just that we could do better. I’m asked for ‘evidence of how anyone could conclude there is any kind of a problem?’ (wut)

I provide CIA factbook statistics on our gun violence per capita, gun homicide per capita, and gun death per capita as we compare to other countries (we're always in the top percentile) to support this point. I’m told that they mean nothing, because none of them account for the higher number of guns we have than any other country (wut). So, I provide statistics that plot guns per capita vs gun homicides/violence/death per capita, showing that even when normalized by the number of guns we’re still worse than 95% of all other countries.

And I was legitimately told that ‘all those statistics are meaningless anyway and have nothing to do with this, and it’s ridiculous to think there’s a problem simply because we’re worse than other countries.’ And everyone rallied around that point as if it was gold.

Few threads down, same exact people are comparing healthcare wait times/quality/etc between countries to say that other countries suck.

I just don’t get it.

In the arena of logic, they fight unarmed.
