Is that what people who don't own guns really think? That a shotgun is a superior home defense weapon?

Guns don't kill people, I kill people.
Please, enlighten me, oh wise one. I'd like to know what kind of handgun has the ability to put a human being down with one shot that's just pointed in the general direction of center mass, not aimed for any necessarily vital target.
Also, I did a little more research, and there were some valid points brought up for handguns being better than shotguns for home defense. None of them were that handguns are more lethal. Every single place I read stated plainly that shotguns are more lethal in the hands of someone who isn't a marksman. The perks of handguns are portability, ammo capacity, and one-handed shooting (in the event you have to grab kids/spouse). I'd still rather see no guns, even with that knowledge.
My .40 cal with hollow points? In a household you're talking sub 10 yard range, sub 7, and pretty much 7-15 feet. I'm not going to miss a center chest shot or head shot at that range. I can pretty much hold it out in front of me with my eyes closed and kill a person. In fact because of retarded NJ laws and how I could be sued/tried for murder or attempted murder even in cases of self defense, I've often thought of only keeping 1-2 rounds in my handgun at home instead of a full magazine. That way I don't shoot someone 5 times or more in a panic. Also, the nice thing about hollow points and handguns is the less-likeliness of injuries outside of your target. FMJ's can go through and through, often times ricocheting as well. This means people in the vicinity or behind are in danger, just like with spread shotgun ammunition. Hollow points are super home-defense friendly in pretty much every aspect.
The ideal here is one shot one kill, with lots of warning, something like yelling "I have a gun" 3 times as well as being backed into a corner with imminent fear of death.
Ok, admittedly, I hadn't considered hollow point ammunition. That can fuck things up. However, it does require that you actually hit them, and it is clearly harder to hit someone with an itty bitty bullet than buckshot/birdshot. Even if you go to a range frequently, no one is capable of preparing themselves for what will be going on physically/mentally if someone comes into their house and isn't scared off by the mere presence of another person (because let's be honest, most burglaries result in "oh shit, the owners are home" and them running away).
Fuck off, guy. There are plenty of gun owners out there that advocate for shotguns being better. It's obviously not as clear-cut as you want it to be. Both have their pros and cons, and I admitted to that when I found evidence and logical arguments for it being the case.
Blubbar, just go with with UTS 15 that I posted in the youtube thread recently.

lol
I fail to recognize what that question has to do with anything. Obviously I don't own guns (it would be a rather hypocritical thing to do, given my opinions about them). However, I do not need to be a gun enthusiast to be able to do research. The suggestion that researching a topic is a bad thing is fundamentally stupid. *Everyone* should do more research, always. Knowledge is never a bad thing. Presuming you know absolutely everything because of your limited personal experience is a bad thing.
This one.

That shotgun is pretty impressive.
I made a post regarding what would do the most damage a few days before the incident in CT when the kid used an AR-15 in the mall. I still stick by that for home defense as well. Preferably .40-.45cal rounds.
For anything else I really do like a well built M4, anyone citing complains about them never used it life or death.
You asked for what kind of gun could kill with one shot to center mass. I merely grabbed the 1911 I had nearby.
Edit: Its my Trollomatic Taurus that is all tuned out. The Baer stays in the safe.
Newest addition to my armory and this nigga trying to convince a shotgun is better lmao.

.454 casull rounds are the fucking tits.
