I don't know who has a better job, who puts more money into the account, etc. If it was managed reasonably and they both paid in at an equal rate, she should get half the money and not 25%. It's a joint account anyway, so regardless how much she paid into it she might be entitled to 50%. As a future tip, it's a pretty amateur move to use a joint account to buy the engagement ring.
