Doesn't matter if its Pine or Shatner, Kirk gets early elimination since Mal and Solo fire on him before anyone says anything. After that its down to Solo and Mal, and that's anyone's guess. Both of them play dirty and for keeps.

Between the two of them, we know for a fact Mal was a soldier, though, while Solo was simply a smuggler. Mal might just have the advantage on combat experience.

Screw poopdeck, this is a debate I can get behind. I don't think we can automatically dismiss Pine's Kirk. He's not made in the same mold as Shatner's Kirk. So that makes him a bit more of a wild card. My money is on Mal simply because of his military background.

As far as ship captains, though less iconic, this man is far more likely to kill you early.

It's been said before, but the Star Trek 'verse is too civilized, Han and Mal would both shoot Kirk before he had a chance to do anything.

After that it's a toss up between Han and Mal so it really comes down to their back up and a Wookie > Jayne so as much as it pains me to say it, Team Solo would win.

I honestly think both Mal and Solo have enough military training that this would probably come down to who got lucky first. I think if you put them into several rounds of paintball you'd find them being pretty even.

As others have said, Kirk would lose for sure, but Mal and Solo are pretty even. I'd say probably Solo; a Wookiee with a life-debt is more than a match for Jayne and Vera.... and Leia is a pretty even match for Zoe, especially when she gets older and actually trains to become a Jedi. Although... you can't go too far into the future or it will tip back to Mal, since (book spoilers)

If including crew in the calculations, then Kirk gets propelled back into the fight due to Spock. My money is on Mal though, because while Kirk has ST:V and Solo has the Holiday Special, Captain Reynolds has no such baggage.
