In any case, I hope Rune Fencer isn't as JA-intensive as DNC or PUP, or it will face the same DPS-lowering as those two, with so much JA delay around.

Ehhhh. Doesn't really matter if it's JA spammy. Rune Fencer's supposed to be a tank. Spamming JA's would be good if there's a nice hefty enmity value to them. I'm still holding out hope for that Enmity fix to make pure offensive tanking less important.
Would also make PLD/RNF an interesting combo.
The enmity fix was kind of encapsulated in my response there, but yeah. There's also going to be a lot more hate getting shed from getting your ass kicked from these new attk/def formulas, so even if an enmity cap fix doesn't happen right away, being able to maintain high enmity on a job that hopefully will have good defensive options should still be really useful (IE you'll spend more time at or near hate cap than a drk/war riding LR/zerk). My point is that it's not such a big deal if a tank's DoT isn't super impressive.
Besides, they'll still have Resolution.
Probably...
Famitsu will be doing a preview of SoA in issue 1259 (one after next).

probably means we'll get another public reveal or website renewal around that time.
Unfortunately, given that Paladin has next to no practical uses, unless they actually fix it, it really won't matter.![]()
OST releases on 3/27 as well.
By naoshi mizuta of course
First press comes with yoshitaka Amano illustrated slipcases, I think.

most likely..
considering we're hitting the 2 month mark in a couple of days.. and they're probably releasing new info in 2 weeks.
the typical pre-launch PR chain should be starting pretty soon.. and with it more music and stuff.
I'm just kinda glad they didn't include any virtual items that come with purchasing the OST (at least not yet)...
I want more info on the new jobs. Just a name or two of abilities to churn in my head
If the actual game once again winds up using tracks that are not included with the OST, I'm going to be royally angry. I bought all of the original OSTs years ago and I'm definitely not buying some collector's edition just so I can listen to the tracks that were left out, thank you very much, marketing department.
I mean, I can tell you for sure (almost) that whatever music plays during the final boss battle and during the final cutscene won't be on the CD (those have never been on the initial release). Whether it's because they don't want to ruin it or because they just haven't composed them yet... who knows.
That's for sure, I could understand both reasons, no doubt. At least the previously not-released tracks from ToAU were included with the WotG OST, but for the large majority of other tracks it seems that the only option would have been the Premium Box from 2007.
Though I have to admit that I missed the Soundtrack PLUS, which also seems to feature tracks that had yet to be released, but that doesn't look like it would cover all tracks.
I'm pretty sure that with all the existing CD's that are out there you can get all music EXCEPT the two provenance tracks.
The provenance tracks will probably be tacked onto the end of the SoA CD.
And yeah there will be 2ish SoA epic tracks that probably won't be on this CD unfortunately. We'll have to wait until the NEXT ffxi CD release to get those (6th expansion!?!?!?!).
just one (music056). Provenance Watcher was included in Sword Songs.. which is pretty cheap, since its the only new song in that entire album.
It wouldn't surprise me if they include it again tho, together with the Provenance area theme.
I'd expect 2-3 tracks from SoA proper to be excluded and left to a much later release.. or digitally.
They have less reason to make that many new "emotion" tracks, and have recently been reusing old exclusive tracks entirely. Alexander's final boss of ToAU theme was used in a cutscene in WotG, as was Odin's.. so the barriers are coming down. Music that was once exclusive to expansion no longer has to be.. and that makes sense because you don't always need a new theme.
SoA will definitely need new music for sure, but beyond those for specific characters or plot points they have a huge library to work with.
At the very least, I'd still hope for area-specific BGM beyond character-themes and the like, but I suppose it's unavoidable that a few tracks will wind up being released much later.
Though I still need to ask, that assumption of all (-1) tracks being available on CD, does that include "Final Fantasy XI Unreleased Tracks"? I'm not particularly keen on buying an entire collection of CDs that I already have simply because it includes one that I don't have, especially if it's a limited release from 2007. There is someone selling only the individual album on eBay, but that one is a bootleg, so there goes that.
Edit: And sorry for the slight derail here.
