In the Colkhab screenshots, what is that Rnf doing in the one on the left? I don't recognize that WS.
Edit: Oh you know what? It's probably a move from the bee's ass. Didn't notice that. It's spraying something. That's pretty gross.

looks pretty good..
the Naakuals thing definitely lines up with the analysis we had about the artwork.
7 monster family "kings" can all be found in the artwork. we see the shark, the t-rex lizard thing and the bee. next we have the yeti, tree-thingy, yellow bird and an amorph lol.
It's looking really nice. i was afraid they might reuse bismarck and melisseus for them but so far they haven't and thats a good thing.
Yeah, that new GEO armor is surely their relic set. Empyrean wouldn't be a simple palette swap.
I'm more interested in RNF info tbh, GEO always sounded nice anyway and will be my new job of choice for sure.
Hopefully the descriptions of the Naakuals is just for hype and lore, otherwise it sounds like they're going to give ADL a run for his money in terms of raining down hot death at 40 yalms. At any rate, I like their designs. Hoping the other four look as cool, it's really hard to tell wtf anything is in Amano's art. lol
On another note, they're really starting to emphasize (even if it's unintentional) where WotG just fell short. The scope of what could be done with that expansion was inherently limited by available concepts. Sure, you can mix everything up with Atomos as much as you want, but even that only works to a point. In the end it was just providing a (fairly contrived) back-story to what we already used; the idea limited its own progress and creativity. In working with unexplored territory, they're able to deliver new concepts and ideas without any self-imposing limitations. All that remains to be seen is whether they properly handle the delivery (well, one can hope, yeah?).
This isn't intended to bash WotG - I quite enjoyed several aspects of it, especially the Windurst story. SoA just has a lot more to work with.
i think thats the strong point about all explorative expansions.. like ToAU.. which did pretty much the same thing that SoA is about to do. Assault, Besieged, Nyzul's floor climbing.. they were all new innovations for XI at the very least. WotG never really introduced anything remarkably new apart from Confrontations (ANNMs) which has now been extensively used in Voidwatch, customizing dungeons ala MMM and the very fail "public" battlefields (WoE).
**analysis**
Based on whats been said, it seems like SoA will indeed be the most innovative expansion to date as it will bring all these gameplay mechanics together in some different form. I still remember how they mentioned using a doll as a building block for a dungeon, which I quite like..
Anyway, back to the Naakuals. I think it's quite obvious each Naakual corresponds to a natural monster family - the first 2 monster ecosystems that BST would be really familiar with. I think this place will potentially be a playground for BSTs who enjoy charming stuff, since a good number of monsters in the 7 beast families are indeed charmable.
It seems like each Naakual could reside in a specific zone as well. They mention Achuka (flame rex) is found in Morimar Basalt Fields and Tchakka shark in Foret de Henne.. as well as Colkhab (bee) in the hunting and battlegrounds. I'm gonna hazard a guess and say Colkhab is found in Ceizak.. simply because the beehive is found in that zone - and based on ROM9, only 1 of the forest zones has that giant hive tree.
Quite coincidentally, 7 outdoor zones are found listed for waypoint travel in the dats.. so it's likely that each Naakual will be found in a specific zone from that list, which will probably look like this...
Lizard - Morimar
Aquan - Foret
Vermin - Ceizak
Plantoid - Yahse
Bird - Yorcia
Beast - Kamihr
Amorph - Marjami
which would make it kinda fair since each of them are found in Waypoint zones.. and are "just as accessible"
The best thing from WotG that wasn't Lilisette or getting to be a Mythril Musketeer, was the plot with Count Bifrons and Schultz. Freemasons, man. The two of them and Odin, messing up everything. I'd love to just see them mixed in with whatever craziness is going on in Adoulin. Not Odin of course. Tired of that guy.
Odin will be there. He's the cause of, and the solution to, all of FFXI's problems.
You just like him because he is also made of darkness.
No, everything that has ever happened in FFXI has been Odin's fault. Launch? Odin caused SL. RoZ is a result of SL. CoP is a result of RoZ. ToAU was Odin's fault as well. WoTG was also Odin.
Odin needs to stop giving his power out like a cheap whore.
Odin subscribes to the shotgun approach to creating chaos. Give enough people superpowers and someone will no doubt use it to unleash all sorts of mayhem.
It was sorta funny in the WOTG storyline when Lilith gave some random Elvaan dude some Odin power and he died from a power overload.
Well for one get used to RUN instead of RNF...I pulled the shortnames from the DAT's
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...psb3ac7e9c.png
Makes no sense because outside of Blue Mage, most all job names with two words were always the First two consonants of the first word followed by the first consonant of the second. /disappointed
Eh... I prefer RUN. If you pronounce the U in RUN like BLU, it sounds like RUNE, just llke BLU sounds like BLUE. RNF is a bitch to pronounce in your head. "Runffff" sounds like a sound a dog would make.
Hopefully the short name doesn't define the reaction to the class.
It's all good, RUN/DNC is fine with me.
RUN/DNC ALWAYS UP TO NO GOOD
Wasn't it RNF in the recent patch? I remember seeing AF dats and it was RNF there lol.
