I use fruit juice or you can make your own syrups really easily. You can find recipes online too. I was experimenting with trying different "cola" recipes (coke or pepsi in other words), and found it interesting that one of the big ingredients in them is black pepper. I made a really good one with cherries and chilies. They're so simple that it's neat to experiment with stuff. I would recommend using filtered, COLD, water. It makes a big difference. I have two of the 1 liter bottles and just keep one with water in it in the fridge for "next". I drink maybe a liter a week though, between my gf and I.
Stop smoking, drop about 20 pounds (going from ship food to whatever i want = relative fatness), get back into football shape to play with the base team next year. /cry

Wow, nice job! Awesome to see so many people losing weight successfully.
In general, fruit juices contain the same amount of sugar as soda. As far as why they're bad, even if 100% juice, is because they lack a lot of the nutrients you get by eating the fruit and juice isn't very filling. It still becomes the empty calories that soda is simply by the fact that it is rarely considered part of "the meal".
As far as a better explanation would go.
Edit: My brother does the juicing thing, throw kale and random bullshit into a juicer with an apple and drink it over a week. I'd rather eat food but it's healthy as shit as long as it takes your 'carb' portions up lol.
every year I say I will try and lose weight, but I never succeed. So I'll just say this year I want to at least take my daughter to disneyland and go visit family.
Much more realistic goals.
My goals:
I want to put on 20 LBS and not have it be all fat. This sounds easy but I'm having issues at the moment getting down more than 1k of calories per day. It sucks having to gum/drink everything.
Pay off
3 old bills, each under 300$.
1 Student loan with less than 2k Remaining
What I owe Unemployment in AZ because my old place of work sucks an Amazing bag of dicks.
My Car payment
If I'm not stupid all are doable by December of 2013, and would give me 1k+ per month to drop on the other student loans in 2014.
Go back to school for either Nursing or Technology. I'm really hesitant to get a tech degree, just because of the extreme volatility I've observed in that industry.
Gain 1lb
High-calorie drinks being "healthy" because of "nutrients" = bullshit. 99~% of anything you're not actually deficient in just gets pissed out. Quit buying the woo and drink some water. Especially if you're trying to lose weight.
My resolution is to sort my bookmarks. Haven't done it since like '06...
Lets see... What have I tried to do for 10 years but still haven't been able to because of lazy? Oh yeah:
1. Quit Smoking
2. Quit Drinking (excessively, I still see no wrong in cracking open a few after work)
3. Separate from the Army peacefully with no spite or posturing from superiors who rope me in to extensions
4. Get promoted
5. Loose 20 pounds (lost 15 in 2012 by cutting soda out of the diet and drinking only water and beer)
6. Try not to get pregnant again (need support on this, we're really fucking fertile).
All of you hurry up. Hurry up and cluster up my gym using all the equipment wrong for a month or two and then let's part ways like mature adults to where I will never see you step foot in another gym until next years resolution. The faster you quit your fitness fix, the faster I can resume my workout without waiting inbetween sets.
Gonna try to ween myself off soda for good.
You are a brave man.
I have a few sub folders I'm goddamned terrified of. I need to learn some kind of bookmark dewey decimal to go after them, they have overwhelmed basic logical sorting.
I just barely managed to get a handle on my hard drive image folders. Though half of it still needs fine sorting
