but no, being jewish is more of a running gag amongst people than something to fear or persecute you for. worst I've gotten is that I need more jesus or I'm going to hell because I don't believe in jesus. of course, I also live in the northeast, and it's probably way more different in the south. regardless, my outward appearance is not a cause of instant persecution like being black, female, or hispanic is.

having said that, I think people who believe django is an insensitive or racist movie have every right to say that, but I will contend that the movie does become a surreal gorefest at the end, just like inglourious basterds, and while to say that blacks are still suffering from the effects of slavery is true, jews worldwide are still suffering from the effects of the holocaust and other persecution, especially in the middle east. I say that more as an American observer than someone who is suffering personally, as I have no known relatives of either of the aforementioned events and do not practice any religion.
