Hedonic media that's been slathering us with everything from Arnold movies to 24/7 slo-mo replays of 9/11 on cable news. The invisible hand of the market has repeatedly shown that violence and fear makes more profit then reporting peace so that's what we get.

    Capitalism ho.

We already have stuff like black market cigarettes to dodge taxes, what makes you think ammo wouldn't go the same way if they got taxed to the nines?

Many shooters already load their own ammo there's nothing illegal about it.

I handload for my rifles because it's already ungodly expensive. 30c/rd for .223, 6c/rd for .22LR, 40c/rd for .45 ACP, 50c/rd for .357 Mag, $1/rd for .308 (with JHP or match grade loads 2-3x more). That MRAD rifle I bought? $4-5/rd for factory .338 Lapua and I can reload for almost half that with the added benefit of better control how it's made leading to better accuracy. Only downside is it's rather labor intensive and highly dangerous if you don't follow recipes to the absolute letter.

Speaking of taxes the city of Seattle also passed a 5 cent/rd tax on ammo >.22LR which will be BTFO because WA state law supersedes it.

    Spoiler: show

Related to making your ammo, how regulated is getting the gunpowder for it? If they were to increase the cost per bullet and people decided to do it themselves, couldn't they easily make it harder to obtain the necessary parts? I have to figure that all of that stuff is pretty much useful for one thing so in theory you could control what gets out into the hands of the public.

Short answer is 50 lbs of powder at a site. Beyond that you get into hazmat storage requirements and handling. A pound is 7000 grains which you can guesstimate out to a few hundred rifle or 1000-1500 pistol rounds.

Worst case you can make your own powders and smelted bullets to dodge regulation but quality of the round would go down. Primers and brass would become the bottleneck to control. But if it got to that point we'd start seeing people making single-shot zipguns from metal pipes and other crude firearms. Would also be near impossible to get laws passed barring a sudden outbreak of Port Arthur events.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

You don't have to worship either.

The founding fathers were not infallible. They could not predict the future. The fervor that some have over keeping the constitution exactly the same for forever is insane.

My sister in law, who has checked herself in to a mental institution 4 times and was denied adoption because of her mental history, was able to buy a gun legally from a gun store this past weekend.

    ^ This is a problem.

Does IFHS stand for "I Fucking Hate Science"? And would it be safe to assume it's a satirical parody (or serious mockery) of I Fucking Love Science?

Friend shared a link on Facebook for a group of people who wanted to donate towards the suspected killer of Deputy Goforth. (Cop who was murdered in Houston at the gas station) The comments were even worse, praising the murderer for "standing up for us", and the popular "fuck the police" rhetoric.

Fuckers are just as bad as the people who supported Zimmerman. I'd share the link, but he removed it after I commented on how ridiculous that shit was.

    I meant monetary support. Paying his legal fees, etc. Sorry, should've been more descriptive. ^^;

Still retarded as fuck to support this guy in any way, IMO.

I don't know the story with this cop being discussed, but I do know that if cops in the US knew that if they killed a civilian they and/or their family would suffer an equal loss, there would be a lot less cops shooting civilians.
