Shitty wiki, but hey it only took 10 seconds.
Fucking safari wont let me zoom out of the fucking table so I can see the per capita homicides vs. state name. Thanks Steve Jobs.

I'm sure the data is accurate though, which I suppose brings up an interesting distinction between gun-related death vs homicide. Where VT > CA for death/100k but CA > VT for homicide/100k.

Though as I said the data table is being ridiculous so I can't see the % difference between CA and VT for homicide.

Vermont is .3/100,000 vs California 3.4/100,000 for gun murders specifically.

D.C continues to reign supreme at a whopping 16.5/100,000

Welp, word on the interwebs is this one dude was "an atheist".

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.2381711

“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” tweeted one woman who claimed her grandmother was a witness to the killings. “If they said yes, they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.”

Take this with a grain of salt for now, some of these "websites" are questionable.

    Fuckin

Damn, this is sad as hell to see. Shit isn't going to change though. If 20 dead kids wasn't enough to get anything going, nothing will.

The obvious response is that everyone in VT is too fucking high and busy eating Ben & Jerry's to be angry enough to kill each other purposefully, just on accident.

Unless you trained in the military and find a really nice clock tower to sit in for a while. Pretty sure that happened at least a few times by now.

But yeah, as noted, pistols are the problem. Concealed carry is the problem. We have ranged weapons that can be handled easily by novices with no training whatsoever, that you will never know they have until they whip it out and start using it. Everything else that is capable of causing large numbers of injuries and deaths (bombs, cars, etc) are regulated out the ass, but any fucking retard can go buy a gun, cash, at a gun show. Or there's the dumbasses that think their gun will protect themselves or their families, but then they lock it up in a safe, rendering it virtually meaningless in any sort of unexpected crisis. People that are aware of that logical inconsistency leave their guns out so that they can be grabbed at a moment's notice, and that's when their kids end up shooting themselves or others.

Guns are the problem. There is no reasonable solution other than drastically limiting the number of guns in the population at large. That solves all problems simultaneously - "rampage" crimes go down, "heat of the moment" crimes go down, "accident" crimes go down, and regular old "crime" crimes go down, because the vast majority of criminals don't have 10 large to spend on a black market gun once you've drastically reduced the number of weapons through destruction of seized or forfeited weapons.

lol. I mean, I'm not arguing against that claim, but shit meng, the same could be said about a lot of people... not holding guns.

According to the FBI California had the highest gun deaths in 2014 despite having essentially the highest level of gun control in the country. Right next door here in Oregon we barely make a blip yet we allow NFA items, Constitutional OC, Shall Issue CCW, no restriction on "assault rifles" or "assault calibers", and UBC (despite person-to-person being basically unenforceable).

I'll dig around and see what the per capita is.

Here data for 2013, compiled in Feb2015* taken from CDC data. Link to source data is at bottom of page.

    http://kff.org/other/state-indicator...te-per-100000/

Has CA at 7.7 and Oregon at 11 if I read correctly.

Edit: had to edit proper timeframe

Edit2: happy that if I ever do fuck up and have kids they are getting raised in MA or RI.

About as good as it gets as the CDC also includes suicide.

And my k98 *is* considered valuable history. You can blah blah blah nazis but the true value is the bolt action design that drastically improved the bolt action system. So good that it became the most desired rifle by hunters because it could be rechambered to a large range of calibers and could handle up to ~65,000 PSI. The action was so good that Remington copied it to create the R700 and Mauser went on to become Heckler & Koch. My k98 is a matching serial war bring back and it rests next to the M1 Garand my uncle brought back from serving in WW2. M1 has bluing damage from blood, names and kill counts scratched into the buttstock and has a bent bayonet from my uncle using it as a crutch after getting shot in the hip during the BotB.

This is the sort of stuff that I don't think any reasonable person has a problem with, any more than you could have a problem with people collecting medieval weaponry. Nobody is going around doing school shootings with a WW2 gun. I think it's fair to distinguish between contemporary weapons and what are essentially collectibles, so long as safe gun-keeping practices are still maintained.

A person's right to own a piece of history and their right to own a semi or fully automatic weapon should not be placed on equal footing for debate.

Not seeing anything on females only, but reports that he had body armor and was heavily armed with lots of ammo prepared for a prolonged gunfight.

I know I'm late on this one, but this is absolute truth right here. My personal experience with Texas (I know, lolTexas) is ridiculous. When I moved, I could literally do everything but register to vote with my out of state driver's license. Went to get my license switched over, and got told that it's not a valid form of ID, even though every other agency in the state says it is (including dealing with vehicle registration, plates, etc)

When I went with my parents to get my mother a gun? It took longer to fill out the form than it did to "do" the background check. We had to wait to check out because the store had some policy that you had to wait a certain amount of time after starting the process before you could walk out. That is the only thing that prevented us from walking out with a new gun + ammo in less than 10 minutes. That is waaaay too easy of a process for something that dangerous.

My vote is for regulation like cars: safety courses, licensing, and insurance. Cars are meant for transportation and we regulate them because they can be dangerous. Meanwhile we hardly regulate guns, which are designed to be dangerous. And also do away with the gun show loophole. Whenever there's a gun show in town (which is at least once a month seemingly) I can literally watch people walk from the gun show across one intersection into the local bar/party zone.

Unconfirmed report saying the teacher was Jewish. Also, his r9k post that he made before the shooting has been discovered.

Another message is addressed to “fellow robots” and wishes readers “an enjoyable Elliot Rodger day,” referencing the man who killed six people near the Santa Barbara University campus last year.

“Personally I will mark this day’s celebration of our Hero’s deeds by announcing that I have an elaborate plan...Needless to say; it shall be glorious. The horrible kind of normies will pay for their misdeeds, and the world will be bettered.”
