High brass buckshot at 10 yards has about a 4-5" spread for me. At 15 yards its 8-12" spread*. But yeah, shot moves much tighter and longer than what people give it credit for.

Totally gonna go out on a limb and theorize that this kid doesn't have much marksman training, has played CAWADOODY, brought a SBS or an O/U, was babby's first violent act, whiffed on his second shot because flinch and likely bruised shoulder from not holding it right for the first shot, and used birdshot.

I can't find a source, but some traditional schools (most found in Chicago, which is why I'm bringing it up) are around 28'x30' or so.

Sheriff's investigators combed through what one called a "horrific" crime scene Sunday after the shooting deaths of five people, three of them children, at a home outside Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A well-known local pastor and four of his relatives were among the victims, according to those who knew him.
Each victim was shot multiple times, said Lt. Sid Covington of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, and one of the weapons used was what he described as an assault rifle. Sheriff Dan Houston said a 15-year-old boy, who "may be a family member," was charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.

Officials in Houston, Texas say that several people have been shot at a local community college.
Investigators with Harris County Precinct 4 tell KPRC News that a shooting occurred at Lone Star College's North Harris campus shortly after 12 noon local time on Tuesday.
Authorities have yet to give a number in terms of subjects or victims, but deputy constables say they have at least one person detained. Additionally, a second person of interest is reported to have fled the scene and is being chased by police.
Eyewitnesses tell KTRK News that several gunshots were heard this afternoon outside of a classroom. The school has since ordered the campus and other area schools to be locked down, but the network says they believe there are at least three victims. At least one person has been taken to a local hospital, and a SWAT team has been called to the scene.
According to CNN, police are still looking for the shooter or shooters, and the identity of the one person detained has not been revealed.

There's 4 schools on that same street as the College, a High School, a 9th Grade Center, an Elementary School, and a Intermediate school. Knowing that my kid is within a 2-5 minute walk of a place where one of these idiots were shooting at each other is frightening.

From what CNN says, it wasn't even a shooting, just a pair of idiots shooting at each other and hitting bystanders. At least no one was killed, but my god, I've taught at that campus before, what the fuck man.

he man who is believed to be holed up in the Midland City hostage situation following a shooting on a school bus is Jimmy Lee Dykes, 65, who was scheduled to be in court Wednesday for a bench trial on a menacing charge.
James Edward Davis, Jr., who lives near Dykes on Private Road 1539, told the Dothan Eagle that Dykes pulled a gun on him and his daughter on Dec. 10 after Dykes believed Davis had driven in Dykes' yard. Davis said he reported Dykes to the Dale County Sheriff's Department. Dykes was arrested Dec. 22 and charged with menacing.
Davis said Dykes has lived at a residence on Private Road 1539 for about a year. He said Dykes constructed a "bunker" behind the residence with a PVC pipe leading to the back end of the residence.
"It's the craziest thing. He will be outside in his yard digging dirt at 2:30 in the morning," Davis, Jr. told the Eagle.
Davis, Jr., said police were evacuating houses near Dykes' residence Tuesday evening.
The suspect, who has not been identified by law enforcement, is reported to be inside an underground bunker by his home, located near Destiny Church off U.S. 231. It is not clear whether the 6-year-old child taken from the bus after the shooting is in the bunker with him.
The FBI has been called in to assist with the case.
The incident began a little before 4 p.m. on Tuesday when the gunman got onto a school bus near Destiny Church.
Michael Creel, a neighbor of the suspected shooter, told the Eagle he went outside after his sister heard gunshots. He saw children running away from the bus and they pointed in the direction the shooter ran.
Creel said a little girl told him the shooter came onto the bus, demanded two children between the ages of 6 and 8 come with him. The bus driver refused and he shot the driver, the little girl told Creel. The shooter then took off with one of the kids.
Carol Shepard, whose daughter was on the bus at the time, said her daughter told her that a male neighbor who lives by them on Private Road 1539 got onto the school bus, shot the bus driver, and then left with a 6-year-old child.
U.S. 231, from just north of the Midland City bridge, had been closed in both directions, as a result of the shooting. Authorities have reopened the highway.
Numerous sheriff's deputies and police officers are on the scene.
All Dale County and Ozark City Schools will be closed Wednesday.
