I get the ideas in a perfect world, but I mean if someone is shooting at you, generally I'd think Police would be likely to return fire if not for anything but cover for their wounded. Just seemed crazy to me that he hadn't been hit in one of the exchanges pretty much.

In my experience cops are not good marksman nor are they particularly good marksman under fire, which is an entirely different scenario altogether.

Two civilians and one police officer were killed, the mayor said at a press conference. Two law enforcement sources told the Denver Post that the officer was from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs force.

UCCS reported that the officer was Garrett Swasey, 44, a six-year veteran of the department. The civilian victims have not yet been identified.

At least nine other people were injured in the shootings, including four police officers, in and near the clinic, Lt. Catherine Buckley of Colorado Springs Police said at a media briefing. All were reported to be in good condition as of 9 p.m. ET.

I think it's more a statement on this being the n-th white dude to commit a mass shooting in recent memory taken alive contrasted against the n-th black guy shot for committing misdemeanors while black.
