That is oddly unsettling to watch. I feel like at some point their logic is going to become so sophisticated that they'll end up determining that they can maintain optimal stability by just neutralizing anyone before they have a chance to kick them.

It 100% won't happen if we don't talk about it, which we don't. I think even putting the pressure on it can be enough to help things like lifting the ban on research (fucking stupid).

And granted if we do start talking about it the percent goes down by like 0.00001% for our lifetime. This is not in any way an immediate solution. I do think it is a way to start changing the attitude on gun culture.

People need to start recognizing that their "hobby" should not be protected by the constitution. They also need to start recognizing that, yes, losing a hobby sucks balls, but it's worth every penny if a significant amount of lives are being saved.

How has it not taken over the world yet?

From what I understand it's meant to be a load carrier for terrain that vehicles can't handle. Until it can reliably perform (there's probably still work to be done on that front) AND carry a weight that significantly outstrips the "just have more humans carry stuff" value, there isn't strictly a need for it yet.
It's basically a mule, but without the fear/temperament issues animals have, but I doubt the modern military is all "oh man, it would be so great if we could use mules, it's just that one thing that's stopping us". Because if you use a person instead, hey, you got a person, who can do way more interesting things than a mule.

The other thing would be to serve as a platform for a non man-portable/vehicle weapon to get into locations that a vehicle couldn't

Only way to make a significant reduction in gun crime is banning pistols. Which then steps on self-defense. And then there's confiscation of 100,000,000 firearms. This can of worms in generations in the making and minimum of generations to change and it isn't simply gun culture that needs to change.

Brute force solution? Heavy censorship of gun violence in media and 25 year mandatory minimum felony for anything short of justifiable self-defense. Make it a thoughtcrime and prosecute it.

The rate of change that mattered stopped by the early 2000s and became effectively constant for all categories measured. Which is even more obvious if you look at data extending closer to present.

Who cares if the rate of change stopped? As long as it's still going down and it is then good. Should also be noted that the cdc numbers that pew article uses are significantly different from FBI numbers. Like 32% higher
