Wonder what the owners occupation is. Not sure if it's related but some ERT teams or prison personnel use different colored handcuffs (pink, red, blue, etc.) depending on their assignment/patrol area in case they need to handcuff someone. I've seen some people working prisons using different colored ASP batons or flak jackets. Usually you don't carry firearms in prisons but maybe the pink gun was part of some type of ERT team. Just like people who get their guns painted with Hello Kitty or some other type of cartoon character, it just entices children to see the flashy colors.

Not so much what the gun could look like but the gun was not secured in a safe, cabinet, cable lock, trigger lock, in a different castle, etc. My honest belief that almost all of these recent shooting events were preventable if they were properly stored.

I love all the talk about trigger locks, cabinets, etc...., but is any of that mandatory? When you finish gun school, get your licence, do they give you trigger locks? I'm sure Walmart, gun shows, or the internet gives all that safety stuff away for free.

It's a lot more common than you apparently think, pretty much any gun you buy at a wal-mart or any decent gun dealer is going to come with locks, and even giveaways of free (extremely shitty, but enough to stop a 5 year old) safes with purchase are pretty common.


It should probably be mandatory at this point that new guns come with meaningful locks. It is done voluntarily at a pretty high rate already, though, which is good.

Actually I think trigger locks are mandatory to be included with handgun sales from FFL vendors, as of 2005.

Comparably safer. You can't control someone breaking into your house and seeing a free firearm but you control an environment with kids/mental ill/fuckwits/??? around. Still a bad choice because even if you live alone there are fucktard friends, drunk friends, drunk you, etc that would fiddlefuck around.

Basically the message is if the gun is not in your controlled possession it needs to be secured.

And yes all FFL dealers are required to include a (approved) safety device with every firearms sale. Safes might be unconstitutional but its also unbelievably stupid to not have one.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- A former Los Angeles cop who had allegedly warned he would target law enforcement in retribution for being fired is now suspected of shooting three officers early Thursday, killing one, authorities said.
The shootings -- which come a day after Irvine, California, police named Christopher Jordan Dorner as the suspect in a double slaying there Sunday -- sparked a huge manhunt in Southern California.
The California Highway Patrol issued an alert Thursday morning urging officers in several Southern California counties to be on the lookout for the onetime officer and Navy lieutenant.
The manhunt stretched from Los Angeles all the way to San Diego, where police said the attempted hijacking of a boat could be linked to Dorner, CNN affiliate KFMB reported. The station said Dorner's police badge had also been found in the city. He worked for the LAPD from 2005 until 2008.

If even an ounce of the things he claimed in his manifesto are true, a psychotic break is not out of the realm of possibility. He may have been a completely normal guy before his colleagues ruined his life.

Poway Student Planned School Shooting: Deputies

The 12-year-old student was detained after officials seized numerous rifles and handguns from his home

A Poway student sent a threatening email over the weekend to a Twin Peaks Middle School administrator stating he planned to shoot a teacher and her 23 students at the school on Monday morning.

Detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department investigated the alleged threat and found numerous rifles and handguns in the 12-year-old student's home.

According to officials, the email threat made reference to 3,000 rounds of ammunition as well as numerous firearms in the planned shooting at the Poway middle school located at 14640 Tierra Bonita Rd.

NBC 7 spoke exclusively with the teacher referenced in the email. She wishes to remain anonymous to protect her safety.

"I kept asking myself, `Why me?' Literally wracking my brain trying to figure out who it is," she said.

Detectives worked with the Poway Unified School District and San Diego's Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team to identify the source of the email. CATCH is a taskforce of federal, state and local agencies that investigate technology related crimes.

After identifying this particular Twin Peaks Middle School student as the source of the email, detectives served a search warrant at the boy's house and confiscated numerous rifles and handguns, as well as several computers.

On Saturday at around 5:30 p.m., the student was taken into custody and admitted to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Detectives believe the boy planned to act alone and say there is no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in making the threats.

In the wake of the December 14, 2012, Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., where 20 children and six school staff members were fatally shot by suspect Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old son of a teacher, school and law officials are on high-alert.

"This could really happen anytime, anywhere," the Poway teacher threatened in the email told NBC 7.

NBC 7 reached out to Poway Unified School District superintendent John Collins for comment on this matter and he's working on a statement to be released shortly.
