Clearly he brought it in his bags over from somalia.

Gun seems like a non-issue though since most reports say he shot no one. A strange time to have an argument about gun violence when no actual gun violence has occurred.
The incident was initially reported as an "active shooter" situation, but the suspect did not shoot anyone.

Thought about it, it might be because they hit the fire alarm, decreased response time. They were trying to be too clever for their own good, to get a bigger body count they alerted the police quicker.

:/ This isn't going to make it any easier for the civilized Muslims in the US, at all. This event no doubt going to trigger Trump.

I think my favorite part about all of this are the people who instantly started talking gun control when it turns out the only gun that was used was the one that stopped the psychopath.

Not saying there doesn't need to be a discussion, but amused that this is the go-to response whenever anything happens.

    d) Had a record of the times you reported guns stolen that would send up flags to the ATF.

I don't know that we'll ever put an end to mass shootings, but there are fixes to existing gun laws that would go a long way towards halting the every day violence.

Although a better way to do that is to address systemic issues of wealth and education inequality. Wyoming has essentially 10 guns for every person and practically no gun laws, and if you take away deaths via suicide they have one of the lowest rates of gun deaths in the country. Also Wyoming has an exceptional rate of high school education and extremely low poverty. Contrast Louisiana, with similar lack of laws but the highest rate of violence, with among the lowest education rates and highest poverty.

But yeah, if you were going to just try and make a difference purely from a legal standpoint; registration.
I, along with even the coldest dead hands of the NRA, would be on board if you could guarantee this information could not be used for confiscation and until that can work it'll never get bipartisan support. I would also support a very strong C-class felony penalty (up to 5 years/125k here in Oregon) across the board for any illegal action involving a firearm along with a strong focus on training on handling/laws/rights/responsibilities.

Once you separate suicide deaths from gun-related deaths it's not exactly the overwhelming threat that it's pushed as. Hell, once you filter down to people murdered by longarms it makes Powerball odds look pretty favorable.

    What?

This was originally reported as an ACTIVE shooter, even on this forum. Knowing that, you're confused that people are blaming guns for this?

Well if you have to get registration and your record shows a history or presence of metal health concerns (or seeking council) which would raise a red flag then there would still be a net benefit. What sort of confiscation are you worried about - firearms or registration - and in what way would that occur?
