Or, worse yet, have valid points.
Or, worse yet, have valid points.
Clearly if everyone were allowed to carry guns there wouldn't be any gun violence and this whole thing would have never happened.
the best defense against dangerously unbalanced people is rational arguments like "drop the gun or ill shoot."
Nothing wrong with people strapping and shit, I don't think anyone has ever said that's a bad thing..and if they have, well fuck off because that will never, ever change. Yeah you'll always have a few nutters who pull out and shoot someone who they deem a threat but isn't. Shit like that happens, it's a tragic fact of life and you can't base laws around it.
You can however base laws around extending a wait period and doing more background checks before giving people fucking boomsticks. The fact you could go on facebook, pop a message saying "Gonna go blast up xxx!" then drive to the ammo store, pick up a gun and ammo and have your check come in clean, because it literally takes less then 5minutes and then walk out with your shit...
Also letting people with untreated/undiagnosed crazy juice coursing through their veins be able to access weapons so easily is pretty fucking laughable. How many of the recent shootings in the past year have been due to someone with severe mental illness and not just "My wife cheated on me/boss fired me so i'm gonna take it out on a crowd!"?
Where can I get this crazy juice you speak of ? Back on point: Background checks don't work for people that obtain guns illegally... hell he could have even stole legal guns from his parents/friends.
Laws aren't going to stop people from killing anyone. You can have the strictest gun laws and the world and still see tons of gun violence.
Sure, let's rely on hypotheticals as opposed to empirical information. That's cool. It's not like there are countries with strict gun laws to use as examples anyway. You can have the strictest gun laws and the world and still see tons of gun violence.
Oh yeah it wont stop illegal weapons, and that's why putting a huge damper on people getting guns is stupid, but background checks for mental illness and proper diagnoses are pretty crucial things we just over look. It goes beyond just simple "ban guns or let everyone have guns!" bullshit that congress engages in
I enjoy the freedom of being able to walk anywhere and not having to worry that everyone around me is strapped lol
As much as I hate how strict our gun laws are(I'm fascinated with guns), it gives me a great peace of mind at the same time, and I love that, and wouldn't change it. I live in the largest metropolis in Canada, one of the largest in NA, and being shot is not something that crosses my mind, ever. I worry more about my kids and dangers like pedophiles much more than I do about being involved in a gun related incident, and I should note that I have been held at gun point twice now (hazard of being around drugs and bad shit in the day), yet I still don't worry, I can only assume that's because of our laws and the fact that I know basically nobody is carrying.
You wouldn't have to worry about pedos if your kids were packin heat!
But than the pedos might be packing heat too!
Fuck me! NRA mathmaticians! I should have read up on this earlier!
AFK moving to 'Murica and arming my 2 year old son with a handgun!
They've also figured out that if everyone carried a gun there would be no more shootings because the potential shooters would be too scared of getting shot. You know, because the people doing these mass shootings would never dream of turning the guns on themselves or anything.
Quick example, Clackamas Town Center shooting had a guy steal an AR-15 and after seeing somebody else draw their CCW he an heroed. Background system sidestepped, another rulebreaker actually helped prevented a worse event and didn't even fire a shot.
I have a CC weapon and I hope I never have to draw. I would really prefer NOT having to carry but my local circumstances makes it a legitimate need. I also believe the NRA is toxic for lawful gun owners and their rights. I make for a terrible gun nut poster child.
I love how in Illinois right now, there actually is some talk about restricting gun ownership. But only if you apply for medical marijuana. I guess the type of people who need that are the only ones that can't be trusted with a firearm.
Or restricting medical marijuana users could be related to question 11e on ATF form 4473.
If they're admitted addicts they can't, however, how many alcoholics do you know that are admitted alcoholics? See that weird loophole? You could be a habitual abuser but till you've been locked up or forced in to rehab, you can slip under the radar as long as you don't go in to the shop blasted (and depending on the state or how rural the area is, the seller might be just as drunk as you who go to purchase).
Federal regs are just guidelines and they usually leave enforcement (and interpretation) up to the states. It's weird loopholes like that which allow some states to circumvent certain laws since it's almost not entirely specific or very vague in it's description. If every amendment or regulation had specific language to it, then each section would probably be 100 pages long and use extremely fancy language.
