You ever been the victim of a home break in while you sleep? Not something you can get over.

Glad no one died but I'm sure the father is going to need a large amount of therapy after this. Daughter will probably never leave her room again.

Yes you can blame the father. How fucking hard is freeze I have a gun which is then followed by a "holy shit dad it's just me". He was getting ready for work, so he wasn't asleep.

The father legitimately thought his daughter was in her room where she was supposed to be.

I don't know about you but someone breaking into my home automatically forfeits their life.

This guy also had a family to protect .

You NEVER should call out your position if you think someone may do you harm if caught in the act.

If you live in a house with other people, and you have a 'shoot first ask questions later' philosophy for anyone you find entering/roaming the house at night/early morning... it's only a matter of time before something like that happens.

And come on, there has to be a middleground somewhere between see potential stranger > BOOMBOOM MOTHA FUKA and "Hello unidentified stranger, I am Carl Dickenson and armed with a weapon, are you a criminal or an acquaintance/family member? Answer incorrectly and I will discharge my rifle."

I mean, the dude shot his 16-year old DAUGHTER. Did he even make any attempt to identify the figure first? Making some assumptions here about his daughter's figure, but it's probably safe to say that she isn't easily mixed up with the size of a 200lb man.

Get out of here with your ignorant questions. The guy shot his daughter because he failed to identify his target.

Not resorting to a gun as a first line of defense when you get a little nervous would do wonders in avoiding shooting your kids with your itchy trigger finger.

Again man fears someone breaking into his home at 3.30 in the morning. Damn right he is going to get a gun and shoot whoevere he thinks is breaking in. Who the fuck is going to stand by and let a stranger have there way with their home?! The daughter broke curfew the man had legitament fear it was someone else, he isn't going to ask the asshole his purpose.

End result is horrible but not due to negligence.
