I saw this when it surfaced a while ago. The full "story" that didn't make it to the papers was the cop was pissed off at Marcus Jeter for cutting him off. I'm glad they're being brought up on charges. It's that type of shit that needs to be severely punished to weed out the shitty police officers fucking up our profession.

The dash cam is probably an IA move. The defendant Marcus Jeter lodged a complaint, which in turn got IA involved to check the cameras and the body-microphones. They release it to the PR of the department, who turns it over to Jeter's lawyer to reinforce his complaint. The defense attorney sends it to the prosecutor, who dropped the charges and released the information to the Grand Jury to indict the officers for misconduct based on the IA report.

Probably did in the beginning, until that Defense Lawyer handed in that subpoena for the tapes and they were forced to turn it over and do it the right way. Hopefully, they'll get dismissed from IA just as quick.

Sound man for the show COPS was shot and killed last night while the cops were responding to a robbery in progress.

He also happened to be a friend of mine, one of my grad school film classmates at U. of Miami. Just got the call. He's worked on COPS for like 8 years.

they wear bulletproof vests, but he got hit in the armpit around the vest, died on the scene.

I came here to see if another story had been posted but I saw your post. I'm so sorry to hear about it. Was it at night and maybe the cops didn't see he was in the line of fire? Or do you think it was negligence? Either way I guess it's still really terrible.
