    Top/Favorite/Best/Whatever Anime of 2012

Okay, so yeah, some more shameless self promoting of my blog, but here are my thoughts on the top 12 anime of 2012 (and top 12 characters):

    http://avvesione.wordpress.com/2013/...cters-of-2012/

    For those too lazy:
    12 Kamisama Kiss
    11 Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
    10 Joshiraku
    9 Tsuritama
    8 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
    7 Sakamichi no Apollon
    6 Psycho-Pass
    5 Persona 4 the Animation
    4 Hyouka
    3 Chihayafuru
    2 Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
    1 Sengoku Collection

Was kinda curious what you guys though as your favorite or best anime of the year. Doesn't need to be 12 or anything like that, just kinda curious what everyone here thought of this year, to see what other people watched and what their opinions were (especially Gulk, I've always wondered what goes on in your mind).

    Anyway, have at it!

Fate/Zero and Chihayafuru would both be strong options for me. Though there's still a lot of stuff I missed because of lack of time and plan to catch up to, I doubt anything will beat these.

A quality list would be much larger.

Hmm i'm not really sure why none mentioned space bros but oh well!

Space bros: One of the few animes i wait eagerly to see every week i would really have a hard time picking best show of the year between this f/z and (i hope) R;N

Medaka box: Gainax art nothing else to say, oh yeah the 2nd season is waay better than the first

Fate/zero: I think we all agree on this.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san: I... no.. i mean... leave me alone i enjoy it!

Accel World: It's refreshing to actually see a fat guy as the main protagonist and i think it's a really solid show.. except the 2nd evil guy i will never understand what was the big deal..

    SAO: Fuck ALO

JoJo: I started watching this because i expected something weird and it delivered absolutely strange stances, an italian mage and a lot of gentlemen.

Magi: Very shounenesque and at the moment and it hasn't gone full retard so i approve it.

Psycho Pass: It looks like it will be an awesome seinen, the characters are well developed although i think they neglected the other "team" too much.

R;N: So far so good, i'm expecting some mind-blowing plot twists around the corner.

Zetsuen no Tempest: They did a good job on this one, i don't know who said that it was too theatrical, i think that is the point since they spent half of the serie quoting hamlet&co.

    Worth taking a look:
    Jormungand
    Toonari no kaibutsu-kun

PD: Don't be too harsh on my english it's been a long time since i wrote a wall of text,

I'm only mentioning completed shows(Sorry Bakuman S3, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, Magi, Psycho-Pass, JoJo and Robotics:Notes).

    1-Fate/Zero
Great production values, strong writing, solid characters, and an exciting premise which keeps entertaining to the very end. Great range of emotions throughout the series with some really powerful high points and amazing consistency all round., in short It was a nonstop orgasm for my eyes and soul.
    http://i.minus.com/iGu0c82Xt7p5H.gif

    2-Ano Natsu de Matteru

Sure, it’s going down a well-traveled path and nothing it offers is particularly original, but its characters are compelling. By no stretch of the imagination are they realistic. But they are passionate. They’re go-getters, action-takers and unafraid to step over their friends for what they want.
    http://i.minus.com/iPecirJqy0N0h.gif

    3-Hellsing Ultimate 10

Amazing. Really loved the way the fight was directed and the way, even with an episode in which 80% of the time the characters were fighting and talking, the moment it was time to tap on your "feels good" emotions, they hit it pretty well. I'll miss this great ova series.

    4-Nekomonogatari/Nisemonogatari
There's lots of things I could say about this series, but one thing I particularly liked is how the dialogue mixing places you aurally inside a character's head at times. Sometimes this is used to distinguish thoughts from speech, but other times it's used to compliment a visual perspective from a character's eyes, and that effect is really neat.
    http://25.media.tumblr.com/95b22bc58...zl5uo1_500.gif

    5-Aquarion EVOL

    6- Code:Breaker
Full of classic shounen action. Everything from the character designs, the action, the script, and the music is totally retro in a good and fun way.

    7-Kokoro Connect
Kokoro Connect exceed my expectations and considerably satisfy with it’s subtle character development, intriguing story, and The blend of all these impressive qualities provide a compelling narrative that rarely ever falters in it's execution.

    8-Minicori Scramble
The entire production is just oozing with creative charm and it's hard to find an image from the show which doesn't look great. It's obvious that a lot of talented people had a lot of fun creating this and it shows.

    9-Milky Holmes Season 2
Every single thing about this show is dumb. The premise, the execution, the characters, the writing but dam it I had an amazing time.

    10-Joshiraku

    Most hilarious scenes:

    Campione:
    Kissing scene(just fuck already):
    Spoiler: show

    Sword Art Online:
    tentacles scene:
    http://i.minus.com/ibcLHfL1nYLSpQ.gif

    Blood-C
    Uncensored deaths:

    Movie:

Wolf Children(I was able to see it, thanks to Japanese Movies Celebration Event)

Just gorgeous. One of the most important pieces to the success of Wolf Childern though is the attention to detail and the relationships. A great deal of care and thought is clearly put into rendering the emotional scenes and it shows all over. Its effect on the way the movie look is probably the biggest thing, from the way characters and objects attached to them move to the minute density of the world is really impressive. This carries over pretty well into the way everything. There is an appropriate massiveness instilled in the way certain things sound that really helps establish the setting. It's one of those anime you can't even say much about, because the only way you can put it into words is "Well, that was excellent."

    8. Sword Art Online - The SAO arc only, ALO had some good fights but the story was p. dumb.

    7. Ano Natsu de Matteru - Ker pretty much covered everything I could say about it.

    6. Binbougami Ga - This felt like a pretty weak year for comedies and this was the only one that made me laugh consistently.

    5. Fate/Zero - Alexander the Great and Gilgamesh made this show.

    4. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - It's bizarre and it's adventure, what more do you want?

    3. Robotics;Notes - It's living up to the standards set by Steins;Gate and I can't wait to see where it goes.

    2. Lupin III - I'm sure you are all sick of hearing about how much I loved this show so I'll shut up.

    1. Sakamichi no Apollon - I gushed enough about this show in the season thread, but it is still easily the show of the year, nothing else came close.

I still need to check out Space Bros. since I've seen many of you raving about it.

I honestly haven't seen a lot of the stuff people are saying is good this year.
Saw fate/zero and that's obviously awesome. Probably the winner in any case.
The best thing I'm watching this season is definitely Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, which I'd put in 2nd.
I also quite enjoy Accel World. Can't wait for more of that.

But I haven't seen Chihayafuru yet, and judging by how good everyone says it is and my love for Japanese poetry/things like karuta I'm pretty sure once I do watch it I'll think it's the best thing ever.

Most of the other stuff has been mediocre as hell/I can't remember it/didn't watch it.

Oh, but AKB0048 came out this year and led me to the most amazing girl group ever (the show is very good as well). I recognize that fate/zero is better but if I had to say something I'd watch over and over again it would be 0048.

my only beef against fate zero is that i find the final fight scenes a bit too short, but all in all it'd be my pick for this year.

not gonna bother setting a numbered list though, since i have no idea how to quantify the criteria objectively, and some series I seem to just hate on principle.

Considering how few series I actually went through this year, to make a list I'd have to put everything on it. Fourze was better than all of the anime I watched this year anyway.

Also, I personally don't feel that R;N is all that great. S;G was pretty damn awesome and I think its getting a lot of points from that instead of scoring them on its own.
