I think it's pretty objective the underlying story of FFVII was two gay dudes who couldn't resist the sexual tension between each other.
You're all terrible, is this argument for real?
I don't know, a little bitch who sucks so bad he convinces himself he's an entirely different person is pretty boohoo.
Why no fat ass Samoan and his underwater soccer ball? Fuck that nigga.
I always bought into that "ahaha Squall is such an emo kid" thing too...until I actually played FFVIII. Then I realized he's not emo at all and I don't know what the fuck everyone is talking about in regards to that. Squall tends to be a little quiet, but not as quiet as some make him out to be. Actually, when I started VIII I couldn't stop advancing the story to see what came next and ended up being severely underlevel for the boss fight/didn't do any extra content because of it XD It was an interesting story and even though I didn't care about the side characters like, at all, Rinoa and Squall were interesting enough (esp together) throughout the main storyline that it made up for that.
Cloud on the other hand... I mean, if you HAD to categorize one main character as 'emo' I'd pick Cloud, but I still don't think he's really emo in the game. He does what he has to to reach his goals, and yeah he's confused most of the time and has issues but he runs away from them and then deals with them accordingly. He doesn't spend inordinate amounts of time crying over his issues (that we see, anyway). If he didn't have a lot of people around him helping him deal with and overcome them he might actually fall into emo territory, but I think he managed to avoid it in the game. (When he's removed from that influence, like in AC, yeah...he be emo as fuck).
Honestly I want to say Tidus is emo sometimes but his whinyness is probably just because he's a dumbfuck.
Honestly the only emo one in the bunch was Dark Knight Cecil. I fucking love the dude, was my first FF and I love going back and playing it, but holy shit. Up in his room crying all the goddamn time, Waaaa I killed people. Waaaaa the king is being weird. Waaaaa I burned this town down. After that he's fine up until he learns Golbez is his brother, and then I remember him crying again, but don't even really remember why.
You can't be underleveled in FF8. Everything scales with you![]()
spells only scale down so far, so some can still easily 1shot whole parties if too underleveled ;p
They scale with you, but not linearly. Fights are much easier at higher levels, just not obscenely easier like in every other ff.
I might remember this wrong, but I thought some of the bigger bosses tended to be harder at higher levels.
The only thing that killed me in FF8 was the final boss, the version that is really hard to kill unless you have doomtrain or some other optional summon, I don't remember it was years ago. I gotta play that game over again and do all the optional stuff next time.
The only way I could play FF8 again would be on an emulator. Triple speed to make draw drawdrawdrawdrawdrawdrawdrawdrawdraw bearable. Learning abilities from GF's and the junction system was top notch fun for me.
and bosses at higher level do get "harder" but that's because you might not have the higher-tier spells to junction to your stats to give you an edge. If you leveled up to 99 and tried to fight diabolos when you first get the option to, you will probably always get destroyed. Granted, you can do that high lvl magic trick with one of the GF's card mod abilities or whatever. But that'd take forever.
