andy reid is easily the best HC in the afc west now.

I am not sure I can disagree with this. Fox is terrible; he's just got a team stacked from Elway and McDaniels bringing in a ton of talent (and yeah, this is still largely the team McDaniels built). But Denver's in a better position with GM than KC is, so I'll take it (though this last Denver draft was full of WTF).

And yeah, the Eagles did a good job of developing talent. Under Jim Johnson, especially. Reid's a hell of a QB coach, too, I'll give him that. He's done far more with far less at QB than any coach in the league. Reid is not without his strengths; it's just that his strengths are more the things I look for in an OC under an offensive-minded head coach, than things I look for in a head coach.

the eagles offense has finished in the top 10 in yards and points more often than their defense has during andy reid's tenure. when has the eagles defense ever truly been dominant???

the eagles were one of the most balanced teams out there over the past decade in a half. andy reid didnt like to run the ball but it's not like duce staley, westbrook, and shady are your quintessential every down backs. holy shit

Eagles D finished in the top-ten overall in points and yards in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, and 2008. They finished in the top-ten in points in 2003 and 2011. The offense finished in the top ten overall in points and yards in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2011. They finished in the top ten overall in points in 2001 and 2009, and in yards in 2007 and 2008. However, even within this stretch, the defense finished higher on average in both points and yards than the offense; 2006 and 2010 were years of exception to that trend in the stretch. As for when the Eagles had a truly dominant D? Top 4 in points allowed and/or yards allowed in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2008. Their offense was top four in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2011. However, while there were 3 times the Eagles D finished top 4 in both, the Eagles O finished top four in both... once. The Eagles offense wasn't as bad as I remember, but it was consistently behind the defense in both relative yards and points. And when the defense was great, their record was great; when the defense wasn't great, their record wasn't.

Yeah well, that's just, like, your opinion, man. (Also Reggie Wayne's, I guess.) I'd rather just keep everyone healthy, if you can't stay sharp during practices then you have a bad coaching staff.

I think that's a little silly, you can't truly replicate gameday action in practice. This goes back to what Wayne said, younger and less mature players are more likely to need a game to play their tails off and are naturally going to slack some in practice. 3 drives, the first quarter, the first half, whatever; but I think it's a terrible idea to sit them the entire game. Unless you have a Peyton Manning-level QB, one drive probably isn't enough either.

But yes it is my opinion and can't really be proven one way or the other.

Agreed. You don't tell them you're not playing them the whole game, you practice them like they're playing the whole game and then 3 drives in you yank their ass. Practice is where the work is done. Let 'em rest.

This isn't relevant as the argument was over absolutely no gameday action vs. any. I would have been fine with a few drives, but definitely don't think the starters should have sat the entire game.
