Catching up on shows. Which ones should I watch?

I made kind of a New Year's resolution this year that I would catch up on some of the anime I have missed lately. (It's actually been longer than that.) I was wondering if anybody could give me some recommendations, starting with the ones you think are must see. Nothing more than two years old.

Nothing stands out that those guys haven't already recommended really.
Perhaps Shinsekai Yori?
The first half of Sword Art Online is good for entertainment purposes but anything after the first "end" spirals downhill into a mass of japanese Mary Sue cliche and all around blargh.
I liked Binbougami quite a bit since it didnt feature enough deranged Otaku pandering it probably will never get a second season.

I'd say those are the series already mentioned that are most universally liked and have the best quality to them minus Shin Sekai which is a pick of my own. The rest are really up to personal taste, esp stuff like Nichijou (basically Azumanga) or Sakamichi no Apollon (slice of life woooo)

One I didn't see mentioned that I enjoyed was Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. It was pretty good. Not stellar though.

Last Exile sequel was total shit, I wouldn't recommend watching it unless you've been lobotomized. The rest of that list is pretty good.

Tasogare really is better in the manga and while the anime was pretty good the anime exclusive ending was just plain butchery. Maigo scans translates it if you're ok with simply reading the manga.
Another series I forgot about is Bokuwa tomagachi something something. The light novel is a decent read as well.

The Japanese BD features english subtitles and is pretty cheap (for a Japanese blu ray)
