fwiw yes, she's for the most part made a full recovery, all of her weeknight-drinking-buddy friends completely bailed on her when it happened, luckily myself and my g/f lived with her at the time and us combined with many of my friends who were nice enough to come by and take care of the dogs/make her food when we were stuck at work made everything resolve itself relatively well.

And yeah I recognized that it wasn't a great analogy up front, mostly for the two main reasons pointed out that a) the guy was an adult who was already a criminal and b) that it could have happened to her anywhere doing anything, it was more just to point out that she herself as the victim felt that to some extent had she not made the decision to do something irresponsible with her night she wouldn't have been there.

I don't get why this is a topic of discussion because A) everyone agrees on the fact that making bad decisions or being in certain situations increases the probability of bad things happening and B) it doesn't matter, doesn't excuse anything, and therefore is not worth pointing out.

All of my examples put forth earlier are also TRUE... from my limited point of view.

Where is the line between partial responsibility and no responsibility? Is it a sliding scale? Anything can be spun into being your fault.
